“This chick was substituted for my ordered Silver Penciled Plymouth. I requested that if a substitution was needed the eggs need to stay the same color. The Silver Penciled Plymouth is a Brown egg layer, and the Blue Copper Marans is a Chocolate Brown which I already have one of those. Along with the fact that this Blue Copper Marans is not very highly rated for heat tolerance with was another of my requirements. So I am not very pleased with the substitution provided.”

Blue Copper Marans are known for their beautiful chocolate-colored eggs, though some hens do lay on the lighter side, which might still add a bit of variety to your basket. Even though not listed as a heat tolerant breed, with proper care, including plenty of shade, fresh water, and good airflow, they can still do well in warmer climates.
