Pullets: Rhode Island Red Reviews

4.9 Rating 18 Reviews
I received my Rhode Island Red pullet in June, and I could not be more pleased. I received Rhoda (the Rhode Island Red) and Goldie (Gold Laced Wyandotte) together, and they are absolutely perfect, and growing up quickly. They have blended in very well with my 4 established chickens (an Easter Egger, a Cream Legbar, a Frizzle, all from MPC, and one hen from a farm near me), and are absolutely thriving. I'm pretty excited to have them, as they're both large (they're already as large as my eggers who are more than a year old), friendly and super curious about everything. I always direct folks who are interested in starting to keep chickens to MPC because the pullets are healthy, and it provides the newbie a way to get experience without the pain (and sometimes heartbreak) of starting off with babies.

I’m so happy with my 6 Pullets from MPC. 2 months in & I can tell they’re from good stock. The shipping process, which I was worried about, was perfect. I received updates every step of the way letting me know the moment they arrived at my local post office.

My new Rhode Island Red, named Rhoda, is doing great! She is a little more reserved than her mate Goldie, but she too was ready to eat and drink as soon as she was placed in her stopover pen. She and her mate, Goldie who traveled from My Pet Chicken with her, have since been given a nice run and coop of their very own as they complete their quarantine time together. They're both very healthy and adorably inquisitive. Simply a terrific experience!!

The pullets were healthy and roughly 6 weeks old. It would be nice if they were a little older, for the price. Two months later, they are thriving and fit in well with our flock. Still waiting on eggs though, since they were so young at delivery!

We ordered 6 birds of two different varieties and the boxes were separated in the mail, so the 3 Rhode Island Reds shipped Monday evening and Tuesday morning. They are skittish--perhaps daunted by our two older hens who were squawking at them from outside the run--but figured out water and food immediately. They stick together and haven't integrated much with the three Buff Orpingtons that arrived one day later and are just slightly smaller. All 6 birds are gorgeous and we are happy with this addition to the flock.
