“A beautiful and strong layer with a good disposition that was good (not excellent, but good) with cold. We love this breed, and just ordered more. One of our favorites.”
“I love this chicken, it gives tons of eggs, perfect for meat, beautiful beetle green when the sun hits just right‚Ķ every flock I neglect to add this wonderful chicken to is a mistake.”
“Although sources say that australorps can be dominant, my chicken, Dolly is as mellow as ever. She doesn't care if the other chickens are ahead in the pecking order or anything. She is so sweet and not a pinch dominant. She also is beautiful. I love this breed and recommend it. Mal”
“Raven is beautiful, curious and a bit cautious. She is smart and a good layer of lovely light brown almost mauve eggs. She has such beautiful plumage and just as sweet as can be.”
“My Black Australorp , Matilda ,from My Pet Chicken was one of my best hens . She was beautiful , laid lots of small brown eggs , lived to be nearly 10 years old and still laid occasionally up to her last year . I would definitely order another in the future .”
“We ordered 10 hens and 2 were Australorps. We named them Rosa and Elizebeth and they are so sweet! From day 1 they were lively and inquisitive, stretching their cute little necks out to observe everything that moves, and now that they are grown, they will let anyone touch them. Literally, anyone. The one downside is that Elizebeth does tend to go broody, but no real complaints.”
“Buffy is by far my biggest and most docile chicken. She looked a week older than the others the day I got her and did everything first. She started laying at 4 months and laid for 9 days straight. She now lays 6 light brown eggs a week like clockwork. She didn‚Äôt let me touch her much at all until she started to lay. Now she wants me to hold her every time she‚Äôs about to lay. Even if I‚Äôm just walking by she will stay flying at my arms for me to hold her. Very cute. She‚Äôs always been 1 or 2 in the pecking order but like I said, very docile. Very quiet.”
“We received several healthy chicks from MPC about 18 months ago (February 2020). The ordering and shipping process was smooth and the customer service was outstanding (I contacted them with several questions)! Our Australorp is beautiful, friendly and robust. She began laying at 17 weeks and gave us 5-6 large eggs/week (~60 grams) for her first year of laying (even through a Michigan winter without heat or lights) and is now averaging 3-4 eggs/week. She has never gone broody, which we view as a good thing!”
