Baby Chicks: Blue Laced Red Wyandotte Female Reviews

4.6 Rating 47 Reviews
Received 1 BLRW in a February 2023 shipment. She was weak and passed away at 2 weeks old. Received (2) replacement BLRWs from a local feed shop.... so this review is mostly for them or hatchery quality BLRWs. Those girls are plumply sized but lay the smallest-medium sized brown eggs (45-48g). One layer has a bloom that makes the eggs look pink. But since my flock-focus (goal) was largeish rainbow layers, I will not be buying this breed again.

Blue Laced Red Wyandottes are a breed that many backyard flock keepers enjoy having around because of their wonderful personalities and hardiness. Most lay large cream to brown colored eggs - about 150-200 per year is the average - but as chicken "tenders" we all know there is sometimes those hens who just wants to do things their own way! Though the Blue Laced Red Wyandotte may not be for you, perhaps check out My Pet Chicken's Ameribellas - for large cream-tinted eggs - they may be more of what you are looking for! Let us know if we can help you with anything! We are always happy to help!

This was my first time purchasing from a hatchery. I had purchased from RK/TSC previously. I will never go back! I had a wonderful experience with MPC! My little Blue Laced Red Wyandotte is so sweet and the calmest of the bunch.

Our Blue Laced Red Wyandotte is my favorite of our 6 new chicks. She is so friendly and content to sit right in my hands. She is also the largest of the bunch by quite a bit.

Paprika is such a welcomed addition to our mini flock! She's super friendly, comes running over to eat from the palm of our hand, and enjoys being held. She arrived happy and alert. Thank you, My Pet Chicken!

I've had people mistake my Blue Laced Red from MPC for a private breeder's wyandotte, I've seen complaints that 'hatchery' blue laced are washed out and not blue, I have one that is blue and one that is splash laced and the blue is DEEP blue, and the red isn't washed out either it's a striking combination!! It took a while for the colors to really show all over their bodies but they are just really nice birds, very heart shaped bodies, bold but not the top of my flocks pecking order, just right in the middle of the group. It's December and Im pretty sure these girls are one of the few still laying the occasional egg for me too. I really want to add a few more, they're so pretty especially in the sunlight!

A beautiful chick, I only ordered one of these and was most excited to see her. Upon arrival she was the largest out of 10. Was doing very well up until about 1hr ago she fell over and closed her eyes but continued breathing for another 30 min before she was gone. First chick I’ve lost out of 45 I’ve ordered, very sad. I hate that I can’t ship 2-3 more of these girls. To fill her spot in the flock.

This is our Lily. I am particularly fond of Wyandottes, so this was a natural fit for me. She's pretty protective of the flock. At 3 weeks now, she's pretty friendly and once you can get her enjoys nesting in your hand or near us. If she's anything like the Wyandotte's I've had before, I'm sure she'll make an excellent mother.
