“Wilhelmina was one of the shyest chicks of the bunch and at a year old is still not exactly friendly, but she is super curious and one of the first to run up to me when I come outside to see what I'm doing / if I have treats. She is so beautiful, and her black feather shine with a green sheen in the sun. Her eggs are not as dark as I was expecting, but they have a heavy bloom that gives them a pinkish tint, making them unique in my flock.”
“Nugget is the prettiest chicken in our flock. Although she has a shy disposition, she's never mean. She is at the bottom of the pecking order, but she will still come over & eat treats our of your hand. As compared to some in our flock who are frenzy feeders with snacks, she's gentle & delicate. I wanted to order another one with one of your 2 February chick orders from MPC, but they weren't available on our ship dates. These are gorgeous chickens with docile temperament.”
“My Hollie is on the bottom of the pecking order despite her attempts to stand up for herself. But, I think it‚Äôs because the other birds are so jealous of her good looks! She is the most beautiful chicken I have. With her double lacing and green shine, she is stunning to look at. She is louder than the rest of my girls, too. So, if you‚Äôre looking for quiet, key looking. If you‚Äôre looking for sweet, dependable and beautiful...this is your pick!”
“The plumage on this breed is absolutely beautiful. The green iridescent with the brown double lacing is just gorgeous. Maggie is shy and at the lower of the pecking order, but someone is going to be, why not the beauty? I would highly recommend.”
“Maggie is one of the most beautiful of my flock. Her feathers are iridescent! As others have mentioned, she is sweet, shy and at the lower end of the pecking order. She is only 17 weeks old, so I cannot comment about eggs yet.”
“My barnevelder is six and a half months old now. Along with wyandottes she is the best layer. She also produces the prettiest egg, the attribute I care about most, along with her looks. The egg is rounded reddish dark brown. But she is shy, skittish, and gets bullied a bit.”
“I got my first Barnevelder this spring, and she has been the 2nd most skittish of all my birds from the start. She has calmed down a bit over the last few months, but still completely runs away from me if I reach for her. once I do have her however she is the calmest bird, and will fall asleep on my lap. I think in time she will calm down a bit more. She is a beautiful bird, and I am anxiously awaiting her first eggs. She is friendly with the other chickens, does not cower from them, but also isn't too assertive. As a chick she went from looking like a chipmunk to looking like a small falcon. I think in time she will be a solid reliable and friendly bird.”
“Phoebe is at the bottom of the pecking order, but one of the first to run up to get fed. I picked her up the other day and she chatted nonstop until I sat her down. Beautiful green feathers, medium brown eggs and a sweet personality!”
