“I got a little boxful of chicks from my pet chicken about 2 1/2 years ago. The sweet little banty bard rock was the friendliest chicken I've ever had. She loved to be held and would snuggle on my lap. Sadly, she didn't make it past about a year and a half old. I'm not sure why she died, but I do miss her.”
“My Barred Rock bantam is so sweet. As a chick she was flighty but all of a sudden something changed in her personality and she is now one of my favorites. She doesn't like being snuggled but loves perching on me and being close. Her egg song can be heard from miles away but other than that she is the quietest little bird. At 18 weeks it's like her voice never changed and she still makes little peeping sounds. She just started laying at 17 weeks and was the first in the group to lay. Her tiny tinted eggs are the cutest.”
“Our Barred Rock is 8 weeks old and she's been a stand out since we got her as a healthy day old chick from MPC. She's been the leader from the beginning (but never mean), and she's the most relaxed at being held. She just seems to get it and doesn't stress. She figured out how to fly out of the brooder first, and she's the first to try something new. She's a great chicken and her personality makes her my daughter's favorite.”
“I ordered six Plymouth Rocks at six weeks, and these were the only chickens in our new coup. Three of them came in half the size of the others. One of them was very sickly when she arrived. Within a few weeks, she would not stand and quickly failed within a few days. Over the next several weeks, we lost two more with the same symptoms. The other three, which were the larger ones, thrived and never showed signs of illness, and now are beautiful and laying brown speckled eggs. Out of those three we usually get 3-6 eggs a day, and they are extremely kid and people friendly.”
“I placed an order for the first time with MPC this spring, and when my package arrived I had one extra chick in the box. I'm not sure how it happened, and when I called to inquire it seemed like a mystery. I did call to possibly add a barred rock bantam to my order but changed my mind, so somewhere in that phone call one was added to my list, but I did not pay for her. I was honestly a little annoyed because it meant I had one more chick than I wanted, and would have to rehome her. The woman that I spoke to on the phone when I was letting them know that one extra mystery chick had arrived, said that she hoped that she ended up being my favorite, and she just might be! She is extremely curious, friendly, not aggressive to the other chickens, but also can hold her own. She has wonderful coloring. She will come greet me when I come to the run, and often will jump up on me to hang out. We named her Frida (because she was free). Highly recommend this little bird!”
“Every one arrived healthy and happy! The barred Plymouth Rock bantam was the smallest of all the bantams that I ordered, so cute! She is growing to be very loving and curious. Very sweet in nature. Can‚Äôt wait to see her all grown.”
“I love this bird. I've had dozens of chickens and other barred rocks. They are great. Best personalities. This bird is the first to jump on me EVERY time I go in the coop. She like to be cuddled and cooed to. She tries the new feeders first, went in the coop first, tried to escape first! She's funny. She will dive bomb the sleeping pile of coopmates, steal treats and worms, she's just a laugh. Precocious is the best word. Love her! One of my all time favorites. I highly recommend these birds to everyone.”
