“Besides being one of the better looking coops, assembly and instructions were clear and easy. The heavier mesh also keeps the hens secure as we have lots of predators.”
“The pen is great for baby chicks but they are outgrowing it quickly. It is good quality, sturdy and easy to assemble. However, I found the same house at Walmart for $150 less. Unfortunately that was after I had purchased from My Pet Chicken. I am going to have to build a bigger house soon. It would be fine for 2 hens but is not big enough for 4.”
“I put this together with my 10-year old in about an hour and a half. I could not believe how well packaged everything was and the attention to detail. Everything fit well. We have three chickens in there now and it's just a fit. It's completely fine for our purposes -- hobby chicken pet owners. We added two wheels to the backside under the nest box and a handle at the end of the run and converted this into a chicken tractor. Also added a crossbar that the ramp sets on for additional stability and to give the ramp something to rest on during moving. We are absolutely pleased with this and have recommended it to friends. Now contemplating purchasing an additional run for those times when we go on vacation and the "girls" need extra space (we free range them part of the day). For those concerned about being able to have an automatic chicken door opener with this horizontally mobile door, look into a linear actuator (or a good ole retractable car antenna) - the conversion is fairly straight forward and adds that handy touch of automation! Now if only the coop could teach our chickies to go inside on their own!”
“Even with water seal, this coop did not age well. I went less than 2 years without using it. Water leaked in where the weather created gaps (there were a few gaps where the nest box and its lid meet when it was new, as well as where the roof of the run meets the body of the coop area), metal screening rusted, tray rusted through (hint: get plexiglass cut to fit the bottom of the tray, take it out and dry off metal tray if there's any water on it), the wood of the roof warps and pulls apart at the edges like wet books that have dried, the inside of all the roof areas warped and grew mold, hardware broke, wood split, etc. My friend and I had to strip the veneer inside of the roofs, totally cover the screened areas with hardware cloth to provide an extra layer, scrub and bleach away large areas of black mold inside the coop, nest box, and run, and replace hardware. If you have to store this coop, I hope you have room for it in a shed or garage. I am currently using it for 2 young pullets and barricade the coop at night with heavy fence posts placed at strategic areas. Definitely get a latch for the roof or screw it closed because the weather will cause warping and the two pieces won't fit. It was pretty good the first year, but I wanted to tell customers how it is after a couple of years if stored outside.”
“This coop's purchase was our foyer to the exciting world of raising chickens. mypetchicken.com had very enthusiastic reviews and the price looked right - and we were tempted. We purchased "The Clubhouse" Coop w/Run (up to 4 chickens). The coop had to be assembled (took us many hours -- considering we painted it, as was recommended - not clear to us why it did not come painted and not stained) and we were very disappointed with the small size of the coop (it does NOT fit 4 regular chickens) and more than that, with the low quality of the wood. It was extremely soft & cheap wood that easily split and broke. The customer service to replace the broken parts was fantastic, but nevertheless, we would not recommend to purchase this product.”
“Great coop! Just put it together and it is nice! Double latches on everything. Can‚Äôt wait to get my girls in it! I purchased the extra run making it about 10 feet long so there is plenty of space for them during the day while I‚Äôm not home! Thank you!!”
