“This coop is adorable and very well made! I use it as a maternity coop for broody hens and babies, as well as a hospital to separate a chicken if needed, so it doesn't get used year round but is perfect as an extra coop! I painted it to match the big coop.”
“The assembly was easy and it is very well made. I am, however, very disappointed in how small it is. To be advertised to house four chickens is just simply not true. It will barely house two Rhode Island Reds. So buyer beware if you think you can put four grown hens in this coop.”
“I‚Äôve had this coop for 9 years (never used weatherproofing and live in NJ) and I‚Äôm buying another one!
Originally bought out of necessity to isolate a weak, injured hen, the coop I purchased in 2013 performed its duties as a “hospital” coop and has since become home to a small flock of bantams I acquired (chicken math is real!!)
Now hatching even more bantams, I’ve searched everywhere for an economical coop that meets all of the convenience, safety and ventilation factors I consider deal-breakers… and this is the only coop I found, under $900, that meets them all (short of building my own!)
This time, I will weather seal the coop and I expect it will last for double the years.”
“I painted this coop to match my big coop and use it as my broody/maternity coop and hospital. I currently have my Silkie and her 4 adopted babies in it. It‚Äôs perfect!”
“I got this coop intending it to be for broodies or as a quarantine for new birds but it found its calling as a bunny hutch for our Netherland dwarf bunnies and it does the job perfect with an extra run added on.”
“For as much as I love this little coop, the design and look, it still faired no better than other prefab coops I‚Äôve tried‚Ķthey always fail at the roof. Even after using high quality exterior paint and sealing with roof tar the thin plywood sheeting still disintegrated after less than 2 years use. The rest of the coop is holding up well.”
“The rest of the coop is great. Easy to clean, good design, easy on the eyes. However, the roof sheeting is made of thin plywood that, even after sealing with exterior paint and caulk, it delaminates and fails. The roof on the nesting boxes totally fell apart and water drips on my eggs. An area on the larger roof is also starting to fall apart. (I have pictures, but I don't see where to add them in the review?). I would not recommend this coop unless the roof is upgraded. We'll be rebuilding this one and shingling to get some more years out of the rest of the coop (since it's less than 2 years old).”
“I haven't had the coop for a year yet and the slats of the roof fell off, the hardware is rusted and corroded- making the sliding door unusable. I even varnished it with two coats of protectant before assembling it, and raised it off the ground on cinder blocks so it wasn't sitting in standing water. Cheaply made and not worth the price. My husband is a woodworker, so we keep 'fixing' the problems so we can keep it standing, but we will need to purchase a new one for our girls this spring. Super frustrating because we put so much time and money into it. Boo!”
