Hatching Eggs: Assorted Show Quality Silkies, Feathered Friends Location Reviews

2.9 Rating 38 Reviews
I ordered 6 eggs and two hatched (which I expected since fertility and hatch rates are naturally never 100% and viability decreases drastically in shipped eggs). My two silkie babies ended up growing into two beautiful black hens named BeardMan and Special Silkie. One is bearded and one is not. I love them so much! They are so cuddly and smart. BeardMan asks to be picked up and loves pets. Both are really consistent layers too, something I did not expect for silkies. My girls will be turning 2 years old in June. I’m very happy with this breeder and will definitely be ordering eggs again when I’m in a position to have more chickens.

I got bought 6 and got 7. My first time hatching eggs. Three hatched, emailed them asked why 4 seemed to have been infertalized and they gave me a nice detailed description. Two strong chicks and one had sprawled legs. Looking into how to splint it. But I’m overjoyed with the three hatchlings.

We are terribly sorry that you had such disappointing hatching experiences with your shipment. As outlined in the Incubation Guide, on the My Pet Chicken website, we can never promise hatch results, as there are so many factors that can affect hatch rate. We hope the solutions we had offered to you at the time were found to be somewhat helpful as we attempted to do our best to make the situation as right as possible. Please let us know any time if you ever have any questions regarding hatching eggs, or anything for your flock, as we are here to do our best to help.

Good materials for packaging eggs but the way that they were packed was not what I received two eggs broken so no extra for backup

Ordered 13 eggs, received 15, and 5 hatched. All eggs were undamaged. I used a Brinsea Maxi EX at standard settings. I elected not to candle until lockdown to reduce fluctuations or a chance of accidentally cracking them. Only one other egg was partially developed. The rest were still clear at day 18. The hatch rate seems a little low even for shipped eggs, but this is my first hatch and I knew fertility would be lower late in the season. Interestingly, the smallest peewee sized egg hatched into a clean legged and 4 toed chick. I’m not sure if it was just a genetic anomaly or if one of the extra eggs was another bantam breed. It will be interesting to see what it grows up to look like.
