“I have two CLB‚Äôs (Queenie and Bessie) and they are sweet, mild chickens. They don‚Äôt like to be held but will follow and stay close to me. They are a little nervous but not overly so. Queenie‚Äôs eggs are green for now but she just started laying so I‚Äôll hold off judgement. Bessie‚Äôs eggs are sky blue. They have delightful combs and waddles and the picture above doesn‚Äôt do the breed justice. They lay nearly everyday and mine do lay in the nesting boxes. Love this breed and will get more in the future.”
“Her eggs are abundant and a lovely color, though a bit small for her size. Her coloring is, to me, rather dull, though I must admit the beret is cute. As for personality, she's an intelligent hen but unsociable with humans and rather a bully toward her fellow chickens. When another hen went broody, she insisted on chasing her off the nest and guarding it herself, even though she was not broody and there were plenty of other nests. One time I saw her catch and eat a mouse, which was... impressive. All in all, though we love her eggs, I think next time I would choose an Easter Egger instead.”
“Lol this girl is a nut, so sweet and so jumpy. She's always pacing at the back of the coop like she thinks it's going to open a magic door to Narnia, even after she lays her egg she paces. She wants so badly to be friendly but her nerves just can't take it . I love her eggs but she's kinda cray. Btw they started out green and now are baby blue, so pretty.”
“We loved our CLB. She was. Sweet, gentle girl. Somewhat flighty in the beginning, always the last tomcome in at night, and certainly the smallest of our flock of six hens, but she ended up being one of our best girls. Beautiful blue eggs! Sweet personality.
Unfortunately, she died before she was even six months old, most likely from Egg Yolk Peritonitis. She was wayyyy to young to have this. Many chicken blogs talk about hatchery birds more commonly having these types of issues. I don‚Äôt know if that‚Äôs the case, but we were sooo sad to lose her so soon. I‚Äôd love to have another one.”
“I have never bought live chicks via mail order before. I was wary but everything went very smoothly. The chicks are healthy and lively. As for the breed...I have had these before. They are very docile and curious birds. Very enjoyable to watch.”
“I have two Cream Legbars that are both timid and bottom of the pecking order. One has crinkled up toes and not very bright. She is the only hen that comes in the roost after dark. I imagine to not get picked on. Both hens blue eggs shells are very brittle. I tried different supplements without any difference. My other girls are very tame and social. I recall paying $32 each for them to boot... I will not purchase this breed again.”
“We became first-time chicken owners in July with just three chicks. For the first several weeks, our Cream Legbar was by far the sweetest. She would close her eyes as she lay in the palm of your hand, and let you pet her. As she reached her "teenage" weeks though she became super flighty and skittish...almost 180 degree turn from the beginning. She's the only one that we've had to rescue after jumping/flying into the neighbors yard. However, just recently at 23 weeks she was the first one to give us an egg...beautiful light blue. Since she started laying, she has calmed down substantially, and is much more friendly.”
“My Cream Legbars from My Pet Chicken are the only birds in my flock laying right now in December! The blue eggs are beautiful, and I love their little crests. My Pet Chicken took great care to answer all my (many!) questions regarding the shipping process. You can tell they really want their customers to succeed in caring for chickens! You have a repeat customer here.”
