“This hen exceeded my expectations with her coloring and her beauty. She is original and just stunning. Her eggs seem kinda green though and I really, really, really wanted really blue so I did subtract a star.”
“Great bird. Very pretty and is a little skidish. Won't lay in nesting box at all! I find egg nests all over the yard. We've had our flock attacked 3 different times and she always gets away. Sometimes she roosts in trees during the summer. Unfortunately her eggs are almost white though. That was a bummer.”
“Winona is six months old now and has been laying beautiful small turquoise colored eggs for a couple of weeks. She was extremely flighty at first, but is getting a little braver now. She is at the bottom of the pecking order out of nine, which is probably why she hangs back from the rest of the group. I feel sorry for her, so I try to slip her extra treats. She doesn't seem to realize she was the most expensive one in the bunch! Still, I wouldn't trade her. She is adorable and sweet and her eggs are really gorgeous.”
“These wonderful chickens give me the bluest eggs of all my layers. They have sweet and gentle personalities and have never been broody. Last summer in Texas when it was over 100 degrees every day for weeks, my Cream Legbars were the only breed I had that didn't have a single fatality. Not only that but they kept on laying like champs. I can't recommend Cream Legbars highly enough. Worth every penny (which is definitely not true about some of the other unusual breeds)! The only drawback (and this might not even apply to you) is that they are very chatty. These hens are always cackling and squawking which can be a problem if you are a backyard chicken keeper. If you are trying to keep a low profile, these girls can be on the noisy side.”
“We got our CLB, Lola, along with a few other breeds of birds with our second batch of day old chick's from My Pet Chicken about a year after the first. From the first, our Lola was curious and interested in everything! She was so cute and totally won everyone over with her little poof on her head. She was a bit "flighty", in personality, though, but I believe that this was entirely because she was part of a smaller and younger group that sort of got pushed around a bit by the older girls. She was an active forager, but was later than everyone else to start laying those blue eggs of hers that we so eagerly anticipated. They were also on the smaller side, compared to the rest of the flock. She was also much more prone to finding hidey spots to go and stock pile her eggs, instead of using the coop! And because of her slight frame, she could fit into and underneath some places that made it very difficult to find her! LOL! Unfortunately, she was recently killed by a hawk on the farm we've moved to (we were in a backyard in town prior) and I think that maybe her smaller size made her easier prey for this not so big hawk. A very pricey meal for that hawk, and expensive compost as well, but nothing goes to waste. I believe that I would order this breed again, but would be more interested in doing so if the price were just a tad more reasonable. Adorable chicken, though!”
“I have ordered chicks from mypetchicken as well as other sources and the CLB are hands down the best all around chicken. They have a higher IQ than the others if thats possible. They are clever, curious, have a great feed to egg ratio (smaller birds but not bantams) and love attention. They were the first to learn to use the chicken swing, the chicken xylophone and new treats. Dot my favorite CLB will sit on my lap and let me massage her while she coos in gratitude. they are prolific layers of large sky blue eggs. i would only warn that the eggs while wonderful are never as intense and bright a shade of blue aqua as in the pictures online on this site or anywhere else on the internet, so don't anticipate that but they are the best and if you can only have a single breed i believe it should be a cream legbar. they are with every penny.”
“As a 1st time chicken owner, I turned to the place I considered to be the best in helping me figure out which breeds were the best fit for me...MYPETCHICKEN.COM!! I order 3 Buff Orpington & 3 Cream Legbars. I am so smitten with my Legbars. They are unbelievably friendly. I would love to eventually get a CLB Rooster to be able to hatch true Cream Legbars!”
