“Our girl Monkey is about 9 weeks old and is the cutest little thing. She's both fiercely independent *and* extremely friendly (jumps right up onto my shoulder and hunkers down for a nap, but also loves doing her own thing!), and is also quite the lap chicken. We'll definitely be adding another to our flock in the spring. Fantastic breed and blue eggs - what more could you ask for?”
“I have 2 cream legbars from MPC, one from 2019, the other from 2020. Ginger and Pecan are stunning birds and lay beautiful blue eggs. Both are quite quirky and have unique personalities. Pecan prefers to lay her eggs anywhere other than the coop- her favorite spot is inside my washing machine. She will fly over the fence and yell until someone lets her in (and puts a soft towel in the washing machine) so she can lay her egg. She is small, but lays a large egg nearly daily. Both are very watchful and alert and excel at alerting to predators when free ranging. A fun breed and I definitely recommend having a couple.”
“She's about 10 weeks now and so far, so good. She is one of the more friendly pullets in my mixed flock of five. She comes running when she sees me, will jump on my lap/shoulders, and doesn't mind being picked up. Her crest looks great and people always comment on how cool she looks!”
“Let me start by saying I am very happy with our order of 5 chicks from MPC. We received our tiny chicks in April and now by October they are all healthy girls laying wonderful eggs.
Our cream legbar has always been my favorite - despite being on the smaller size and generally very calm, she is brave and always challenges our marans girl who's the top of the pecking order. She's not aggressive at all though and is very calm with us, she's also very friendly with my toddler and lets her pick her up or feed her by hand. We couldn't be happier.”
“Purchased one of these girls in my last order. Worse hen I have ever come across. Hatched late August. Overwintered well, but was last to begin laying the following spring, actually around June! The smallest eggs you can imagine,(my grandfather would have said a crow snuck in and laid an egg!) On top of that she went boody 2 weeks after starting to lay these lilliputian eggs. Nothing and I mean nothing worked to break her.Tried to make the best of the situation and put some fertile eggs under her to see if she could hatch them out. Don't you know she kicked the eggs out of the nest! Finally mid July, she rejoined the living and started laying her tiny eggs again. Then last week (August) she goes broody again!!! Stays in he nest box all day except twice a day gets up, eats, drinks, and poops, then it's back to bed! To top it off she mean! Bullies Orpingtons, Rocks and even a very large Austerlope thats almost twice her size. Don't bother with this breed. If you would like pretty blue eggs stick with the EE.”
“Blanche is my favorite hussie of my GGirls! As a chic she was kinda distant, but she was the 1st to start laying, greets me every AM, eats outta my hand & even though Sophia has gone broody 3xs not her, she keeps it moving!”
“Our cream legbar, Unicorn, is one of the sweetest of the mixed breeds we ordered, the other is a dark brahma. She was the calmest "teenager" chicken I've ever seen! My 6 year old daughter bonded with her and it's so cute to watch them. Unicorn is now over a year old and consistently lays medium size blue eggs, she was also the first to lay at 18 weeks old.”
“Eggs are gorgeous. She‚Äôs our friendliest chicken, but is quite flighty and nervous. She‚Äôs part of a mixed flock and her nerves combined with her tiny size make her an easy target for pecking. She‚Äôs also quite vocal which is not always great in the city.”
