“We got these eggs for my daughter's pre-k, planning on keeping the chicks after they hatch, and teaching the kids all about caring for eggs and young chicks.
We ordered the 6 eggs and got an extra one (thank you!).
Out of all the eggs: 2 we're infertile, 3 stopped developing after the 2nd week, another one stopped sometime during the last week, and the only one that was promising and moving well, never hatched and showed no signs of life (we even try to hatch it longer, but gave up after 25 days where we didn't see any movement).
I was reading from other comments that the hatching rate is not great, but we didn't expect that none will hatch.
Incredibly disappoented, and the kids were heartbroken.”
We’re so sorry to hear that your hatch rate wasn’t what you had hoped for. We know how exciting the incubation process can be, and how heartbroken your students were when those chicks didn't come out of their shells. Fresh, fertile eggs that have never shipped hatch at an average rate of 80% or so. If they are shipped, that rate drops to an average of 50%, even when they are handled very carefully! No suppliers of hatching eggs can guarantee a hatch rate. While shipped eggs can be more delicate due to factors outside of our control, we completely understand the disappointment of not having more chicks hatch, especially after all the learning and preparation you and your class put into it. You are welcome to reach out to us with additional details regarding your hatch and we would love to troubleshoot with you.
“I ordered hatching eggs for education, 6 eggs and received 7 eggs packaged very well. One egg was unfortunately cracked on arrival, but I was not upset because I still got what I ordered. I put them in the incubator on may 1st and got my first hatch on may 21, 2 eggs were not fertalized or just never started to develop and were pulled out on lockdown. And 3 eggs are still in incubator I'm hoping for a later hatch. Overall this was a great learning experience, i do wish more wouldve hatched but i understand shipping is very hard on eggs, but I'm extremely happy that we got at least one hatch!
We named it honey and I think he's a boy, I am so in love, he came from a tiny green egg labeled fun and funky, I only wish I knew what breeds created this cute Little guy!”
Thank you so much for sharing your hatching journey with us—it means the world that you chose this experience for your daughter, and we’re thrilled to hear that little Honey made her grand entrance!
It sounds like you approached the process with the perfect mindset. As you noted, shipping can be hard on hatching eggs, and while it’s always our goal to send extras when possible (in case of breakage or non-development), we know it can still be a bit of a gamble. We're happy to hear you received the full count you ordered and that one sweet chick has already hatched—fingers crossed for the rest!
Our hatching egg policy is designed with these challenges in mind, since fertility and hatch rates can vary even in ideal conditions. That said, we’re always here to answer questions and offer support along the way, whether it’s about breeds, incubation, or raising your new baby chick.
This chick is so adorable! With it being from the Fun and Funky Collection, the breed could be nearly anything! With maturity, it may be easier to tell, but we are always happy to take another look down the road!
“I ordered these eggs as a cool experince for my daughter. We received 7 eggs but one was cracked on arrival, I was not upset because we still got what we ordered. Put the eggs in incubator on may 1st and on may 21 one hatched! 2 eggs weren't fertile or never developed. And I have 3 still in the incubator hoping for a later hatch! I knew when purchasing that shipping is hard on eggs, so I'm still pretty pleased we got at least one!
We named it honey, she came from a tiny green egg labeled fun and funky. Not sure what it is but we love it!”
“Eggs for Education: We were sent 6 eggs however one was not fertile. BUT… 5 out of 5 were fertile and viable. All 5 hatched and are healthy and thriving day 9!! Thank you so much for a great experience for our first time incubating. My 4yr old is beyond stoked.”
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We’re so happy to hear that the majority of your eggs were fertile and that all 5 hatched successfully! It’s amazing that your 4-year-old is so excited—what a special experience to share. We’re thrilled to have been part of your first incubation journey, and we look forward to hearing more about your growing flock!
“Bought 12 eggs but received 14. One arrived cracked even though they were packed perfectly. When I candled on day 10 most hadn't developed at all. Today was hatch day and we only got 3 chicks.
I feel like it was a good experience. The kids were so excited. I do feel the eggs should be labeled better because several of the codes weren't on the sheet. It would also be helpful to send an instruction sheet in the box for us newbies.”
We’re so glad to hear that your kids were excited about the process. We’re sorry to hear that some of the eggs didn’t develop and that there was an issue with the labeling. We truly appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration to improve the experience for our future customers. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope your 3 chicks thrive and bring plenty of joy to your family!
“I purchased 2 of the "Eggs for Education" packs because they were cheaper that way and gave me a better chance at a bigger variety..
I was expecting 12 eggs but received 14 so thank y'all for the extras, however 1 did arrive cracked and unusable, super sad but things happen.
My eggs were supposed to ship around March 27th & the email said I would receive communication if they were running late, which I did not, but they still arrived the 31st. I didn't receive any tracking info until the 29th- so no real harm but wanted to let others know in case they're obsessively watching their emails like I was.
They sent a paper inside with the breeds of chickens & their "codes or initials" which was cool except a few of mine were not on the paper and I had to go through and mark the ones I had myself and it got confusing. It would be really cool if they marked the paper for you showing what all you got.
I'm going to reach out to customer service and see if they can interpret some of them for me. Eggs are sitting for now and incubator is getting ready, too.
Eggs were packaged very nicely, not sure how the one was able to get cracked but again, it happens. Hopefully the rest hatch!
I wanted to share pictures but don't see the option”
“My girls and I were so excited for the educational pack of eggs after learning all about the life cycles of chickens and preparing for incubating or own set of eggs. Sadly only 2 out of our 6 eggs hatched which was a huge bummer. It appeared as though 3 were not fertilized and 1 just never hatched after 26 days in the incubator. I do appreciate how quickly and safely the eggs were shipped to us, but wish we could have had a little better success rate!”
We’re so sorry to hear that your hatch rate wasn’t what you had hoped for—we know how exciting (and sometimes unpredictable) the incubation process can be.
