I love everything about my experience with My Pet Chicken. I got 2 Exchequer Leghorns and W. Crested Polish bantam. They were happy and very friendly, they were sweet personalities that loved being held, they would fly onto my shoulder sit on my legs when I sat down. When they started laying I thought they might get less friendly, they didn’t they stayed friendly and they are the first to run and want attention.

We’re so happy to hear that your experience with My Pet Chicken was everything you hoped for! It sounds like your Exchequer Leghorns and White Crested Polish Bantam have truly become feathered best friends. We love that they’re so affectionate and still seek out attention even after they started laying. It sounds like they are quite the sweet and social little flock! Thank you for sharing your experience, and thank you for supporting small business with My Pet Chicken!

I bought my first Exch. Leghorn last summer from MPC. She has been my best laying hen for the past two months, even slightly outperforming some of my high production breeds like my Red Star. She is affable and clever, and not flighty at all, as is their reputation. If I had a "con," it's that her eggs are quite small... not much bigger than a bantam's. I don't know if that's characteristic for the breed or just happens to be the individual I happened to get. Definitely a great backyard chicken, great egg-layer; I'll buy another one in the future.

Thank you for sharing your experience with your Exchequer Leghorn! It’s great to hear she’s such a reliable layer and even outperforms some of your high-production breeds. Their intelligence and friendly nature can definitely be a pleasant surprise! Leg size may sometimes vary between individuals, but she may size up as she matures. We're so glad she’s been a great addition to your flock, and we’d love to help you add another in the future!

We are sorry to hear that your little one is not laying as expected! We have reached out by private communication with some suggestions. To assist others who may experience this with any of their hens, check their diet to make sure they are receiving the best nutrition possible especially with protein and calcium levels. Then check for any stressors such a bully picking on them or a predator hanging around the coop. All of these can affect our girls' production rates and once addressed, they often will begin laying those beautiful eggs again!

We were sorry to see in your review of the Exchequer Leghorn from last year's order that you have concerns regarding Marek's in your flock! We know how concerning that is for any flock keeper! Marek's Disease is present worldwide. It's spread by bird-to-bird contact from sharing feed or water dishes or from shed dander from infected birds. If you live in an area where Marek's is prevalent, we recommend you get your chicks vaccinated to protect them. We hope you have seen the communication we sent to you recently and that the information was found to be helpful for you and your flock. Please let us know if we can assist you further with any questions or concerns.
