“My hen has grown into a lively chicken full of personality. She is very friendly, does not mind being handled, and is very talkative without being loud. She always runs to me first thing to ask for treats, always brightens my day.
The only issue I've run into is that she likes to fly. (She will even fly up to my shoulder to get at treats) So you need to have a plan on place of you want to let them roam free in your back yard. I ended up having to clip some feathers to buy me some time to build a better run.
Granted I am going off a small sample size, but so far i'd happily recommend this bird for first time chicken owners. Just be prepared to have treats at the ready!”
“Chess is a riot! We absolutely love her. She is at the top of the pecking order, but never bossy or mean. She is curious and adventurous, always the first to hop out of her coop when the door opens or someone comes around. Also - she's GORGEOUS!”
“Beryl (named for the aviatrix) is a pipsqueak with zero interest in social norms. I doubt that she will recognize the pecking order is a thing. My husband calls her Crazytown, as she is always racing around at full speed (until she completely passes out). When she gets a little piece of treat she races around squeaking her head off, pretty much inviting her sisters to chase her. She fears no one. She is master of our German Shepherd.”
