Pretty much daily layer of medium-small eggs. Beautiful birds - I wish my rooster was THIS breed - OMG the roosters are sharp

She’s really a beautiful, smallish bird, definitely on the flighty side. Lays a small/medium cream colored pointy egg. I guess I’m a little disappointed with the egg color (I was expecting white) & shape but she’s such a nice bird to look at.

My little Exchequer leghorn, Cher is just a doll. She has been full of personality since day one and was the first of my pullets to have no problem jumping up on my lap and staring at me with her silly sideways little lie. She still one of the smallest chickens we have that has the biggest personality of them all. She’s got striking black and white feathers and bright yellow legs which makes her stand out from the rest of our birds. Her eggs are a bit disappointing as they are skinny and pointy. Hoping at some point they might get slightly bigger than this but if not that’s OK her personality makes up for it. Not sure why my pet chicken only has pictures of chicks and doesn’t show the beauty of the hens and Roos.

I received Checkers for my birthday with a clutch of other chicks, and she is far and away my favorite! These birds are known to be aloof but Checkers is the sweetest one of the bunch. She is inquisitive and follows me around the yard making sweet little noises or waiting to be held. When I hold her she is either quiet and watches me, or makes a sweet little bwa bwa sound. She was also the first of her sisters to lay! Would definitely recommend.

I have had several Exchequer Leghorns. They are good layers of smallish pointy white eggs. One was extremely friendly and road on my shoulder; another not as docile but very curious. I like having a white egg layer in my flock if only to provide egg color contrast. The E.L.s are striking looking with their black and white plumage and red combs. They are good flyers and I often find them over the fence but on my property.

She is smaller than all my other chicks now at 5 weeks (other white, brown leghorns and Wyandotte’s- just as energetic, hungry and attentive- held her more than the rest but now she is by FAR the most skittish. I wish I had bought a rooster of this breed - they are soooo beautiful

I have always been very happy with the quality, health, & productivity of the chicks I have purchased from MyPetChicken, however this time I’m a little disappointed. My Exchequer Leghorn pullet is a lovely girl, but she is already 6 months old and has been squatting for a few weeks and she is not yet laying eggs. There is no way she could be hiding the eggs. I have never caught her in a nest box attempting to lay. I’m really hoping and praying that she will start to lay large white eggs on a very regular basis. I’m torn if I will end up culling her for the freezer if she doesn’t measure up to being a Leghorn, as she is such a smart, inquisitive, and sweet bird. Hoping she starts laying very soon.

We bought two of these last year. For some reason, they never started laying. At about 7-8 months I got 1-2 eggs, but over the past year I think I've seen less than a dozen *total* eggs from the two of them. I know they aren't roosters because they don't crow. We have a mid-sized flock and I had chosen them to get some white in our mix, but the expected white eggs just weren't there. They are attractive birds, but I will go with the white leghorns next time and hope for better luck getting eggs out of them.
