Hatching Eggs: Frizzled Easter Eggers 3 / No Thanks Reviews

4 Rating 10 Reviews
I have a wonderful Brisnea Mini II Advance with an automatic turner that I use to hatch eggs and it does an amazing job. I have hatched my own eggs, shipped eggs, and picked up from local area eggs. I get a typical hatch rate of 50% on shipped eggs and about 75% hatch rate on non-shipped eggs. I have bought LOTS of chickens from MPC, but this was my first experience with hatching eggs. The eggs arrived unbroken, however when placed in my incubator I got a 0% hatch rate. Not a single egg (out of 6) was good after 7 and 10 day inspection, and I doubted myself so I left one in a little longer that I thought "maybe" could be developing. That turned out to be a smelly, messy, mistake which I will not repeat again - no matter HOW bad I want a chick from the eggs! In summary....chicks are fine, but I would not buy hatching eggs again.

Ordered 6 eggs and received 7. Let them settle b/c I should have received them a day earlier than I did. I think they were handled to much in shipping. 2 showed no development at all. 3 stopped development after about 7/8 days. 2 were so dark olive I couldn’t see anything when candling and just hoped for the best! 1 ended up being a dud and the other hatched early this morning. So happy that 1 actually made it and is so cute. Not sure if it’s a frizzle I was hoping for, but happy it’s thriving. Just wish it wasn’t alone.

I ordered 3 of these eggs and received 4. After letting the eggs settle as recommended, I noticed all 4 had severely saddled air cells. By day 7, only one of the 4 showed any development at all. Unfortunately, by day 18, even that one had stopped developing. I don’t blame MPC, though. It’s the risk you take with mail order eggs. Sometimes the ride is just too bumpy. I may try again wit these later in the hatching season.

Update on my last review! I hatched 3/4 earlier this spring. 2 ended up being huge frizzle roosters. That being said, very nice so far! One ended up being the cutest, sweetest girl with the BIGGEST cheeks and chin (not a frizzle). Very happy!!

Out of four, one egg had no development. Two died during the hatch process. They never made it all the way out of the egg. Used a broody hen, not an incubator. The one that did hatch is very healthy, though. Not a frizzle, unfortunately, but after what happened with the three "siblings" just happy solo chick is doing well.

I’ve hatched dozens of eggs from My Pet Chicken and have always had great results (often 100% hatch rate), but this time the eggs weren’t so great. I ordered 6 and got 7, but by day 2 of incubation it was clear 2 eggs were not developing, so I tossed them. Of the remaining 5 only 2 hatched (the other 3 had no signs of development when I opened them; their shells were darker and made it difficult to candle and I always give the eggs the benefit of the doubt if I’m not certain about development) and neither of the two chicks appear to be frizzle. They are cute for sure, but I have dozens of cute chickens... was really hoping for a frizzle to add to my flock this year.

Two of our four eggs hatched. One is the frizzle we ordered and the other was a mystery egg. I’d love to know the mix of our mystery baby!

I purchased three and received four! Three hatched and one totally already looks like a frizzle. Not sure about the others yet! Either way they are so cute. The only problem I really had was that each egg was labeled with a code (along with the FEE/FP code) and when I asked what it meant they said they could not tell me because they get creative with the labeling. For example one egg was labeled FEE FP2 MRH... no idea what that stands for but all in all, very happy and very cute.
