“I put together this coop alone. It went together well, the instructions were easy to follow, and should last as long as I need it--I'm hoping several years. It's easy to clean and maintain. I have 7 Rhode Island Reds and they fit comfortably in the coop.”
“I bought this coop on mypetchicken.com in 2021. Over a year later, this coop is still in great shape. It cleans up really easily with a hose or pressure washer. I love that it won't rot like wood. I also have the small version but chicken math made the larger one necessary. I will say that I changed the 3 roosts to 2 because it is easier on my big hens. I used 2x4s because that's also better for their feet. I add DE under the trays to keep bugs at bay. We made our own raised base but they now sell them. I use a wire closet shelf for a ramp. Yes this is costly compared to wood but you will be replacing those cheap wood coops in a year.
I have 7 hens. They do fit but I wouldn't want to fit many more (unless you have bantams).”
“This is my second purchase of the coop. It is so much better than wood and easy to clean. The second unit had an issue but ‚ÄúMy Pet Chicken‚Äù customer service took care of it and now I have no worries. Really impressed with the level of service.”
“HUGE ALERT regarding the Formex Snap Lock Coop. It is a literal DEATH TRAP.
The design is majorly flawed and can kill chickens. The roosting bars do not nail into the slots, they simply just slide in. Several online reviews mentioned that the bars are too short and they often slide out of place because of that.
Well, I can't imagine that I'm the first person this has happened to, but one of my hens was KILLED because of it. I found her on the bottom floor of the coop and one of the top bars was laying on top of her. The bar was actually positioned right across her neck, and she either died from impact (maybe another hen was on the bar & it was heavy), or she suffocated to death underneath the bar.
I can't believe this hasn't happened to anyone else? Seriously??
DO NOT BUY THIS.”
“We are just starting out in our chicken/eggs project. We like the coop. It was easy to put together and it cleans easily. We are starting with eight chickens and they seem happy with it. I don‚Äôt think any more than 8 will fit comfortably but it‚Äôs fine for now. I‚Äôm wishing I had bought the automatic door opener, sometimes I don‚Äôt get up as early as the chickens.
It was really easy to put together. My daughter and son had it all done within an hour.”
“We are new chicken owners and ordered this coop after comparing a lot of different styles. The shipping was very fast and we received it very quickly. I was not very hard to put together. And seems to be easy to use and safe for the chickens. We put a string of solar lights inside for the girls to adjust to the perches. I am very pleased to have it made of plastic for the ease to clean and won‚Äôt harbor smells or bugs. I rate it very highly.”
