Snap Lock Formex Chicken Coop, Standard White (Up to 4 Chickens)/No Accessories Reviews

4.6 Rating 65 Reviews
I have two of these and will likely purchase a third. Easy to put together. Easy to clean. The only thing I wish was different: instead of four nesting boxes, I wish there were only two slightly larger ones on one side and extra roosting space and ventilation on the other. My husband made our stands.

I left a review the other day but I forgot to mention, the best part is it’s made in the USA!

I totally agree w/the positive reviews. We’ve had this coop since last yr & it’s wonderful! We have 3 barred rocks & the girls know this is their sleeping & laying quarters. They free range thru the day or when it’s stormy they’re in the run hubby built for them. It’s very secure & predator proof and when we add to our flock we’ll be getting another one. Super ez to clean w/the slide out tray & thru our unusually long cold winter we insulated further with some moving blankets over the top. The closeable vent has a bit that stays open at the top which didn’t bother them at all. We’re first time chick parents so we’re really happy w/the coop!

I purchased the standard formex chicken coop last year. I loved it and so did my chickens. Sturdy construction and easy to clean, it's the only coop I would consider when i purchase another coop.

The Chicken coop we purchased is pretty nice. The pull out floor was a bit bent on the sides when we opened it up, and thus has cause a gap between wall and bottom where debris can fall in, causing a bit extra effort to clean. It doesn't seem to be the end of the world, but is what it is. It sits nicely on 4 cinder blocks thus stand was luckily not needed. While it says it is fit for only 4 chickens, we could easily fit 5-6 in ours. over all, we are happy with our unit. No moisture has gotten in when it rained, and they seemed plenty warm after first cold snap, no problems so far. It was super easy to put together in less than an hour.

HUGE ALERT regarding the Formex Snap Lock Coop. It is a literal DEATH TRAP. If the website removes this review, then they are complicit in the killing of more chickens. People need to know about this. The design is majorly flawed and can kill chickens. The roosting bars do not nail into the slots, they simply just slide in. Several online reviews mentioned that the bars are too short and they often slide out of place because of that. Well, I can't imagine that I'm the first person this has happened to, but one of my hens was KILLED because of it. I found her on the bottom floor of the coop and one of the top bars was laying on top of her. The bar was actually positioned right across her neck, and she either died from impact (maybe another hen was on the bar & it was heavy), or she suffocated to death underneath the bar. I can't believe this hasn't happened to anyone else? Seriously?? DO NOT BUY THIS.

Super easy to assemble; decent size for 3-4 chickens but I’m using it for ducks, so I’d limit it to 2 ducks, 3 max. I love the fact it can be hosed down and the tray is easy to remove for cleaning. The only thing I’d change is having more ventilation ‘windows’ b/c it does retain heat and in the summer that’s most likely going to be an issue for me to figure out.

It’s okay. Way overpriced for what it is. I didn’t want to build a coop and I read a lot of bad reviews on pre-made wood models. So I went with this one. It’s quite a bit smaller than anticipated. The way it fits/snaps together is okay. It is fairly easy to clean which was one of my driving motivators in choosing it. If I had to do it over, I should have just built a coop.
