Baby Chicks: Partridge Olive Egger Female Reviews

4.4 Rating 83 Reviews
We got Olivia in 4/2019 and she started laying at 19 weeks. She lays beautiful olive-green eggs and she’s super sweet. When she’s out free ranging, she comes running whenever I call here Chicky Chicky. She doesn’t mind being handled and she’s very curious.

My POE named "Harper" is a nice tempered, large bird. She's a prolific layer (5-6 per week) and gets along with all the other chickens. She was larger and a bit of a bully when she arrived but soon mellowed out and I enjoy petting her and listening to her "conversation". Over a year old and never gone broody.

Our little partridge olive egger arrived in June, and yesterday she laid her first egg - and it's so olive! I'm talking a nice, dark true olive that's better than any of the eggs in that pic above. Honestly, I didn't think you could get this color in an F1 cross! I'm ecstatic (egg-static?) about this and take frequent trips to the kitchen just to gawk at the little green gem on the counter. Philippa herself is also very nice. She looks like a cream legbar without the crest, with a bit of a penedesenca carnation comb. She's not as in-your-face friendly as some of our hens, but she's sweet and very quiet and enjoys being petted gently. We love her.

I wish I'd known just how ridiculously broody these are before I placed my order. I can't have roosters where I live and there's a strict limit to how many hens we're allowed which means I'm constantly having to deal with breaking broodies. I now have a cage permanently set up in my run for this purpose. It's kind of a nightmare.

I have a 5.5 month old patridge olive egger. She is fairly skittish but lays very well- almost every day and started young about 4.5 months old. My only complaint is that she looks nothing like the photo. She looks very similar to a cream crested legbar but with no crest. Because this is a breed specific to MPC and it is over double the cost of the traditional olive egger... it would have been nice to see accurate photos of what I thought I was purchasing.

I bought one of these gals this past April. Funky looking bird; does look very much like the cream legbar. She lays very pretty camo green eggs. I call her my roadrunner as that’s what she resembles when she is running around the yard with her long yellow legs and Mohawk head feathers and freaking out about almost everything. She is very skittish and will scream bloody murder when I touch her or pick her up (which is almost impossible). She definitely doesnt have the personality of some of my other gals but I do enjoy her pretty eggs.

Olivia is 16 weeks now, so I don't have eggs yet, but I'm looking forward to the big day. She is so cute with her bouffant head dress and bright yellow legs. She is sweet but shy, usually one of the last one to partake in the goodies I bring for them. I really like her. She doesn't like to be picked up, but will occasionally let me pet her. I can't wait to see her eggs. I'll update this review when she starts to lay.
