Smaller than my other girls, she lands at the bottom of the pecking order. She is a bit shy and tends to stay away from people. Lots of energy, and let's out the biggest/loudest stereotypical eggsong of any of my girls. Fun looking chick, with lots of personality.

It sounds like your little one is falling right in line with how we have observed this breed's temperament and personality traits. They are friendly birds who do tend to be a bit shy and nervous but will definitely show her own personality and sometimes surprise you with a burst of affection when her flock mates aren't looking! We hope that she provides many years of harmonies for you while providing those wonderful eggs! Please let us know if we can help with any questions or care needs. We are happy to be there for you all!

Our Partridge Olive Egger, Cinnamon, was a sweetheart. Sadly, she was super fragile, and showed signs of illness the first day. We did everything we could to help her, but she seemed to have some sort of deformity. Her legs splayed out slightly, and she was unable to swallow food. She died within four days. I would definitely try this breed again, in hopes that Cinnamon's poor health was only a fluke (hence the three stars.) The others we ordered are thriving.

We were so very sorry to hear about Cinnamon! From your description, it sounds as if she may have had splay leg. While we have an article regarding this condition on our Frequently Asked Questions section on the My Pet Chicken website , we have reached out to you by personal communication. I’ll start by saying MPC is fantastic and my chicks arrived healthy. Customer service is also phenomenal and I will continue to purchase chicks through this site. I’m not thrilled with this breed. I only have one so I’m basing my opinion on just her, but I’ve been disappointed by her. She is definitely beautiful which is what attracted me to the breed, but her personality is awful. She’s been so skittish and flighty from the very beginning and unfortunately her behavior has actually changed the behavior of the rest of my flock. They all used to come right up to me and let me pet/pick them up and now they all take the lead from her and run like I’m a fox coming into the run. Her eggs ARE lovely, however I get lots of soft shell eggs from her. I can tell it’s always her because I know all my girls eggs. She’s the only one of 8 who lays soft shell even though she has access to plenty of calcium. All in all she’s been my least favorite chick purchase and a breed i wouldn’t choose again in the future.

We are so happy to hear that you think so highly of My Pet Chicken! We do our best to make sure our customers are happy and the little ones are healthy and arrive safely. We are saddened to hear that your Patridge Olive Egger is not being a very nice flock member! We were surprised to hear that your girl has taken over as the "Queen Hen" and the others are following her lead! As outlined on their breed page, they are usually on the lower end of the pecking order. Perhaps attempting to lead her and the others using the flock keepers secret weapon of treats will assist in changing their attitudes? There are a few things that can affect the thickness of a hen's shell as outlined in greater detail in our article from the Frequently Asked Questions section on the website: Why did my chicken lay a shell-less egg? Please let us know if you have any questions as we are always happy to help!
