“I’ll start by saying MPC is fantastic and my chicks arrived healthy. Customer service is also phenomenal and I will continue to purchase chicks through this site.
I’m not thrilled with this breed. I only have one so I’m basing my opinion on just her, but I’ve been disappointed by her. She is definitely beautiful which is what attracted me to the breed, but her personality is awful. She’s been so skittish and flighty from the very beginning and unfortunately her behavior has actually changed the behavior of the rest of my flock. They all used to come right up to me and let me pet/pick them up and now they all take the lead from her and run like I’m a fox coming into the run. Her eggs ARE lovely, however I get lots of soft shell eggs from her. I can tell it’s always her because I know all my girls eggs. She’s the only one of 8 who lays soft shell even though she has access to plenty of calcium.
All in all she’s been my least favorite chick purchase and a breed i wouldn’t choose again in the future.”
We are so happy to hear that you think so highly of My Pet Chicken! We do our best to make sure our customers are happy and the little ones are healthy and arrive safely. We are saddened to hear that your Patridge Olive Egger is not being a very nice flock member! We were surprised to hear that your girl has taken over as the "Queen Hen" and the others are following her lead! As outlined on their breed page, they are usually on the lower end of the pecking order. Perhaps attempting to lead her and the others using the flock keepers secret weapon of treats will assist in changing their attitudes? There are a few things that can affect the thickness of a hen's shell as outlined in greater detail in our article from the Frequently Asked Questions section on the website: Why did my chicken lay a shell-less egg? Please let us know if you have any questions as we are always happy to help!
“She is adorable and smaller than the rest.
I also love her little mowhauk, and she is gentle.
Will buy another two in the future. My granddaughter named her chipmunk, because as a chick she had markings that look like a chipmunk and is smaller than the rest.”
Your little girl sounds absolutely darling! We hope that she continues to bring you and your granddaughter much happiness! If you ever have any questions, please feel free to reach out to My Pet Chicken! We are happy to help!
“To start off with I ordered 19 chicks total, and I received 21 which was a wonderful surprise! They shipped March 25th, and arrived the very next morning for pick up. It’s been 2 weeks and all 21 are healthy and thriving. From the second I took them out of the shipping box I could tell these girls were on another level compared to the ones I’ve bought in the past from other places, and honestly, I’ll never get chicks from anywhere else. Out of the 19 chicks I got, 6 are rare assortment, 3 blue laced red Wyandotte, 2 bountiful blues, 2 partridge Olive egger, 3 lavender Ameraucana, 1 wheaten Marans, 1 blue copper Marans, and 1 jubilee Orpington. And lastly the 2 extras. I have a hard time telling who’s, who; besides the obvious ones like the lavenders lol. But one of my favorites, Pancake; has beautiful feathers already coming in and I’m 99% sure she is one of my partridge Olive Eggers. She is so sweet, and is always the first to great me (along with my wheaten Marans who’s name is Belle, and one of the mystery chicks who’s name is Sweet Potato.) Idc really what colored egg she lays in the future, her personality alone earns the partridge olive egger 5 stars for me. Even if she is the 1 in 16 that doesn’t lay green, she’s staying. It just gives me a reason to get more of these sweet girls.”
We are thrilled to hear how much you are loving your new baby chicks! The names you have picked out are absolutely adorable, especially "Sweet Potato!" We hope they bring you many years of joy and a beautiful, colored egg basket.
“I got the notification my chicks shipped Monday afternoon and Tuesday by 10am the post office called me to come get them. All of my chicks are happy, healthy and thriving! My first time ordering them and it has gone so well!”
