“My girl looks nothing like the pictures, but she‚Äôs pretty and relaxed. Handles confinement well but also great at free ranging. Gives an egg almost every day which outpaces my other hens.”
“I received my chicks on December 29, 2020. I ordered 1 Partridge Olive Egger. She‚Äôs such a character. Nosey and sweet. She laid her first egg today and it‚Äôs a beautiful Olive green. She‚Äôs such a sweet and beautiful chicken. I‚Äôm so happy as I‚Äôve waited 3 years for an OE that lays Olive eggs. My others laid brown eggs. I‚Äôm so eggcited!!!”
“Cricket is on the higher end of the pecking order of four chickens, is a dependable layer, and overall friendly, though she has her moments. I get a beautiful sage-green egg every day-- she never fails to disappoint me. She always runs with out to greet me if the're in their free-ranging area, or does the chicken dance if she's in her run. Cricket is scared of our resident pigeon, Widget, but that's probably a good thing, though it really hurts if I'm holding her and she pushes off because she has really sharp claws. Though she looks a little bit like a roadrunner, I would recommend this chicken to anyone who wants a really good chicken.”
“I love my Partridge Olive Egger. She's my sweetest bird and absolutely loves laptime, but her egg (she just layed her first the other day) was blue tinted. It was so light that it was almost white, and if it was a color, it would be blue. Love the chicken, but wrong color egg”
“I normally wouldn‚Äôt review birds because there is so much difference between individual birds, but my partridge OE is the 2nd worst chicken I‚Äôve had in 10 years. The reason is that she legit does not lay eggs...like....ever! I get maybe 2 eggs a month from her. All my other hens are reliable and they all get quality feed, free range time and supplements....this darn hen just literally doesn‚Äôt lay eggs. Her eggs are a very pretty sage green....the rare occasion I get them. Shes middle of the pecking order of 30 hens and has docile but not overly friendly temperament. I bought 2 more of this breed to see if it‚Äôs just this hen in particular. I‚Äôll update when the other 2 start laying.”
“I ordered two Partridge OE's and one was a rooster. MPC was fabulous about refunding, and did so even before the original date I was supposed to wait for to verify because I sent video of him crowing (which was adorable, but we can't have roosters). Thankfully Sweet Potato - now Hei Hei - has a very happy new owner and can free range with other chickens. His sister Poopourri just laid her first egg the other day, and it is the most beautiful dark green/olive color. She is not at the bottom of the pecking order and can hold her own with my older girls. If she sees wiggly fingers coming towards her or one of her siblings, she will try to eat them! She'll take treats from me normally, she just doesn't like it when I try to pet her or the two other girls she was raised with. She's funny and entertaining, though, and I love that she's protective of her flock.
This was my first time ordering straight from a hatchery, but I've had chickens since 2016. In my opinion, because MPC chicks are shipped straight to you, they have a better chance at being friendly because they don't deal with the stress that comes from spending days in a store full of loud noises and strangers. All three chickens I got are friendly, and even if they don't prefer being held, they don't run away from me, which is awesome. I will write reviews for the other two chickens I got (Super Blue and Cuckoo Bluebar) once they start laying so I can review their eggs, too. :)”
“My olive egger isn‚Äôt the nicest girl. She‚Äôs given a few other hens injuries and is probably my most aggressive bird in my mixed flock of 8. The eggs are a stunning dark olive green. Exactly what I was hoping for! My other hens have mellowed since they started laying so I hope this girl will too! Beautiful looking bird, hardy, and smart (she chases away squirrels) and is always the first to alert the others of impending danger (even if it is just a butterfly : ) She doesn‚Äôt mind being held- but we have held all the birds daily since we got them.”
“We adore our Ava! She is toward the top of the pecking order in our flock of 8 (challenged only by a very feisty Polish), but is very sweet to those towards the bottom. She‚Äôs skittish and doesn‚Äôt want to be held, but she makes up for it with beautiful eggs ranging from olive to khaki in color.”
