Baby Chicks: Golden Buff (Red Star) Female Reviews

4.9 Rating 84 Reviews
This is my favorite bird out of all breeds I had. They are friendly and loved to peck my door for sunflower seed treats every morning. Laid 5 to 6 eggs a week through 100F temps. Great bug eaters. Very quiet birds except right after laying. Non-broody. I miss having birds. Hoping our city passes a pro-chicken ordinance so I can get a couple birds again. Mine lived for 6 years which is unusual for sex links. If I ever get the chance I will get these again.

Thank you so much for the lovely review of these birds! We hope you can have birds again sometime soon. Customers often tell us that not only are they terrific layers, but that they are very sweet and friendly as well. Again, thank you for the kind words and for taking the time to write a review.

I received my Golden Buff (Red Star) Female in mid September (9/2023) Today is 1/22/24 and I discover she has been laying eggs for a week. She began laying in less than 4 and half months! 17 weeks.

I'm very pleased with my two Red Star hens. They arrived very healthy and beautiful. They are a great breed for consistent laying. The ones I've had in the past have lived very long lives and are very resilient.

Chicks arrived healthy with exception of 1. The chick had a fractured leg (we had it examined by a veterinarian,) and it had to be euthanized. We have not yet been reimbursed for the chick.

We are incredibly sorry to hear about the little one who had a leg injury. It sounds like you had to make a very difficult decision. We will certainly be reimbursing you for that loss, per our policy and protocols as soon as we complete our loss report for the previous week. You should see the refund today or tomorrow.
