Baby Chicks: Golden Laced Polish Female Reviews

4.6 Rating 21 Reviews
A friend and I ordered 8 chicks, 4 for her and 4 for me, 3 of which are golden laced polish hens, 2 for her and 1 for me. I picked them up bright and early Wednesday morning and all were healthy and happy. I check on them constantly to make sure they all look good, have food and water, take care of all their pasty butts, etc., and this afternoon (Saturday) when I checked on them one of the polish hens had died. Very sad day in our house, being our first chicken loss. This was the chick my youngest boy picked for himself, so he cried himself to sleep after his big brothers buried it and built a cross for its grave. All of our chicks arrived with pasty butt and it continues to be a problem still. I clean their butts off regularly, but I've never had to deal with it with past chicks. I'm so scared of losing any of the other chicks now. Hopefully the rest will be fine and survive!

My little gold laced polish is adorable. I trimmed some of her feathers on her crest because it was so full it covered her eyes a bit. She is the bottom of the pecking order and just started laying at 9 months old. Her first egg was a small white egg. Since she reached maturity she has become less skittish. I love her goofy antics and unique appearance.

Clementine, my golden laced polish, arrived 5 weeks ago and she has been a blessing. She is sweet, spunky, and the friendliest chick. I love her little head feathers that have started to come in! She's so cute, we are tempted to get more next year!
