“Very unsatisfied with this product at the moment as it has been one issue after another and in the three weeks I have had this installed it has somewhat worked for two days. From the first day it wouldn't open or close the whole way. I have spent two weeks going back and forth customer service sending pictures and videos and have tried the one suggestion they came up with to no avail. I now have an opener that does nothing.”
“Considering the high price, I expected this door to more or less work, but it has been nothing but a laundry list of problems. To begin with, the whole opener is connected by a single pin. It doesn't matter the orientation of how I put this pin in, my chickens (of course) will pull it out. In four days, they've pulled out the pin four times. I'm spending more time searching for where they left the pin than I ever did opening and closing the coop door.
Additionally, when I purchased the opener, there was information on using an app to work with the opener. At the time, there was no way add it on (though I do see that this has been added since). So, I made the mistake of assuming the description was accurate and that it must come with it. However, it didn't. Now to add the app on, I'd have to pay exorbitant extra fees on what was in the description of the item I purchased and paid for. This is misleading at best.
Further, since this door is linked to in the Bungalow coop description, I figured it would fit for an easy installation. Again, the descriptions are questionable. If you install the opener flush with the hinge of the door, as the instructions tell you to, you will be unable to fasten the bolts, since the washers and wingnuts will hit an inner ledge of the coop. You won't be able to tighten them, since they cannot turn with that ledge in the way.
Unfortunately, that isn't even the end of it. The pictures in this description are again misleading (if you wish to be generous). None of them show the coils of black cables that are attached to the opener that you're supposed to fasten down with a few clips they provide. However, the fasteners only allow you to attach one wire at a time (and there are literally coils that need to be attached to the coop). This is supposed to be used in a chicken coop. Do they really think that chickens won't mess with these coils of cables?
Overall, this door was a huge disappointment, especially considering the high price. This is more work and maintenance than manually opening and closing the door. I'm left to spend even more time to find my own solutions to try to fix this poorly thought out product. If I take it out, then I'll be left with holes all over my coop. Save yourself the trouble.”
“I wrote a pretty scathing review in November of '20, so I wanted to update things now that we're down the road 3-4 months later. I appreciate that MPC updated their description to reflect some of the troubles I had with the door. We've found over the months that the coop is actually really easy to clean without having to take the tray out, so no big loss or damage there. The door as of now opens automatically to the run, and we are able to clean the coop by using the door as well. It's quick and easy because this is not a large coop. The maker of the door, Hentronix, are SUPER helpful and patient in helping us get things up and running. As it turned out, we had a faulty battery, so the light and the auto-door function was just killing the charge after 1-3 days. I bought a new battery and haven't had a problem yet. Hentronix offered to offset the cost, but it was cheap so no worries. Now, winter is just starting to end, and it's been nice not to have to open the door every morning! Overall, I'm glad with the purchase. Was spitting vinegar for a month or so, but it's all smooth sailing now!”
“If you get the light, you cannot use solar power! You have to plug the light AND the DOOR into an electrical outlet! This defeats the purpose of a solar powered door! It is NOT on this website. It is only in the instructions that come with the light, and that is only one sentence in those instructions!
ALSO: The door took a long time for me to get running - it might be designed for the bungalow but take note: if you use this on the bungalow you have to use the wrong door. Meaning, you will have to crawl into the run to take the droppings tray out, which is impossible, because the tray is too big for the run! But the opener only works on that door, not the other door the is designed to be the main door for the bungalow. $900+ dollars later, I have this mess. Oh well.”
“I just revitalized my bungalow coop as it has survived 2 hurricanes but needed some sprucing up! Adding this door was the best thing I did. It works great and I don't have to worry about the chickens being closed up at night. I can open open it from inside my house or just check to make sure it did open. Super easy to install and won't crush the chickens.”
