“I had to score one star to get this to post, but I would have rathered put zero stars. I ordered 13 eggs and put them under our broody hen. We checked her daily and she faithfully covered her clutch. 21 days later, not a single egg had hatched. We checked daily hoping to find our new chicks. Finally at 30 days we gave up and moved her back to the flock and discarded the eggs, that were completely hollow at this point. We had 100% fail rate, not a single egg was fertilized. It was a disappointment considering we had spent well over $100 for the clutch, hoping to make our broody hen a happy proud mother!”
“I ordered 6 eggs plus 3 mystery eggs. I received 10 eggs, with 4 known breeds and, obviously, 3 eggs that are a mystery. It‚Äôs a fantastic color assortment! They arrived unscathed and very well packaged. I am over the moon excited to pop these in the incubator and see how it goes! I‚Äôm using a new incubator that I‚Äôve spent the last few days trying to dial it in just right. Fingers crossed for a great hatch! Thanks MPC!”
“Ordered 15. Received 17, but one was broken. So out of 16, 7 made it to final lockdown. 6 actually hatched.
There are a few things I could nitpick, but honest - for a first hatch, I'm tickled to death.
One little blessing (the more hardcore hatchers might look at this as a reason to cull, but not me) ended up being the one Olive Egger that hatched. She's got severe crossbeak and only one eye, but I think she's amazing.
I can't wait to watch them all grow up!”
“Two separate orders totaling 8 eggs. Not one was fertilized. Considering how much you‚Äôre paying for these eggs you would think you would get at least one chick.”
“Came unscathed despite the inescapable encountering of bumpy rides on multiple trucks & planes, and the probable chance of at least one postal worker from hell. Not only did they mark the eggs for the general assortment, they marked the BREED. so i knew exactly what i got right away. - 3 super blue and 3 easter eggers! 2 breeds is not bad for only ordering 6 eggs & with an asap request on the ship date.”
“Ordered 6 and rec'd 7 gorgeous eggs in perfect condition. Put them under my broody hen and let her do her magic. She was an amazing broody...never mean towards me and was so attentive to her eggs. On day 20, I was cleaning and heard a faint chirping...we had a beautiful baby olive egger hatch! Was so exciting! Now we wait in anticipation for the next babies to hatch. Well, at day 25, nothing else had hatched so I figured we either lost them or they weren't fertile eggs. I broke each and found that the remaining eggs were all yolk and not fertile eggs. So bummed to just have 1 baby but she is darling and thriving with momma! Life is amazing!”
“I ordered 6 and received 7. They were all labeled so I knew which breeds I got and 5 hatched despite the post office delivering them to my house instead of holding them for me like I requested. All 7 were different breeds and they all hatched different colors so it's easy for the students to tell them apart and name them. I'm excited to take them home when school gets out for the summer and see the beautiful eggs that the hens will lay!”
“We ordered 2 dozen eggs, received 28 eggs, and 23 hatched. This was after the post office bounced them around for 4 days too, so sub par eggs wouldn't have had a chance! Our chicks are just over 6 weeks old now. All the chicks are healthy, and I can only see 2 cockerels in the batch so far. We received around a dozen different breeds, all were clearly marked, and none of the eggs were dirty.
IMO the previous reviewer had unrealistic expectations. If you know your chicken breeds or just take a few minutes to read the descriptions before purchasing, you would see the majority of the "breeds" are hybrids, and a hybrid doesn't necessarily lay the same color egg it hatched from. You're not going to get all those beautiful egg colors from purebreds alone. Hatching eggs are always a risk. If you don't want to take the risk of what *MIGHT* (or might not) hatch and *PERHAPS* end up with cockerels, then spend the $$$ to purchase pullet chicks of those specific breeds, and that's *IF* you can even find them. I guarantee no "local backyard mix" will come close to the quality & variety we received. The majority of the breeds we received aren't available to purchase as chicks, or even as specific breed hatching eggs. We wanted a nice assortment of unique birds & colored eggs, and that's exactly what we received. Very pleased with our purchase and we can't wait to see what colors they lay :)”
