“I really wanted to love this heater but I would say in the end I like it. It‚Äôs a bit cumbersome considering it only puts out minimal heat. It worked when the chicks were really small but once the chicks got a little taller they would bump their head on it and it was too hot, but I couldn‚Äôt put it higher or the brooder was too cold. I look forward to having this in the winter for my full grown chickens to keep the air temperature a bit warmer while still being safe.”
“Just new chicken owners of 9 and what a great experience. we are in the Appalachian foothills and its colder here than in the valleys, so our new chicks needed warmth. They liked nesting under it and we kept raising the chain up as they grew. An electrical connection is in their hen palace now, so when winter comes (it will be side mounted), they will have it hooked up out there. We liked the safety and sturdy style (2nd largest) of it, having replaced the big red light system. Funny, we didn't name them "Fried", Fricassee", "Baked" because now they are pets with personalities! Kurt and Laurel”
“It was missing parts - the chain to hang and some hooks. We needed it immediately so did not return but it also didn‚Äôt seem reliable. I would go out and at times it wasn‚Äôt warm. Don‚Äôt have time to mess with it but our ducks have survived so far”
“We bought the smallest unit. Can get to 90 degrees consistently but having a hard time getting it much above that. Our chicks didn‚Äôt seem to be too bothered.”
