“I bought this unit some time ago and just now started to use it as my grand daughter wanted two chicks to raise. I hooked up a heat bulb for them but they did not care for the bulb I then remember that I bought the heater sweeter hooked it up and they love it they run around the brooder and when they get cold they go back under it I do not have to worry about it starting a fire that I did with the heat lamp I rate this at least a 10”
“I don't think mine works well. I had 5 chicks die and so I put a thermometer under it. Was only 70 degrees. So I bought the traditional heater no losses since and it's the recommended 90 degrees in the brooder now. Unless i'm missing something there is no way to adjust heater other than lowering. I had it very low and still not hot enough.”
“Last night, my girlfriend asked me if I was being paid by Sweeter Heather, because I couldn't stop raving about it in every single post. This week, I brought home 18 chicks. The kicker is that 5 of them were week-olds, and the others were day-olds. The Sweeter Heater has been a godsend. The older chicks, which have already started feathering out, love to spend their roosting time on top of the heater. The day-olds stay underneath it, just like they would mama. I put a towel over the top of it so that it hangs down over the sides, and the babies love it. It's a snug little cave. And they come out en masse every hour or two to drink and eat, then back under they go. And at night? Not a sound. They seriously sleep through the entire night...from the first night out of the egg! Given that I prefer boarding them indoors, it is nothing short of miraculous how well this thing works.
It is 100% worth the investment. It is safe to leave on and unattended throughout the day. And I can't believe I used the red brooding lamp for as long as I did. This one is just about foolproof, and it makes all the difference in the world. I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could.”
“It's a little tricky getting it to hang as pictured. It took some maneuvering to keep it from tipping sideways. I feel it is a safer choice than the heat lamp.”
“Took the chicks a couple days to figure out but now they flock to it just like it was momma.
My chicks were started under a heat lamp at the local feed store so naturally we they came home that’s where they wanted to stay.
After a few times of scooting them under the heater and turning off the lamp they decided that was the place to stay.
The instructions say to keep it 6 inches above the floor but that is too high to keep chicks warm. I‚Äôm keeping it low enough that they have to duck down to get under it and I‚Äôm not feeling any excess heat on the pine shavings. I will buy another one next year as I expand my operation.”
“Worries about fire risk are over. Obsessive cleaning of brooder litter dust off the shade of the ‚Äúred light‚Äù is over. Obsessive checking to insure the light is securely fastened is over. Now I peacefully fall asleep thinking of warm, happy safe chicks. Our brooder is currently in our basement so more than chicks were at risk if there was a fire. My 9 year old is preparing her 4-H presentation on preparing for new chicks. The sweeter heater will be featured!”
“Excellent product. My Pet Chicken shipped it so quick it arrived in the beginning of the extreme temps and allowed me to feel safe giving the girls just a little radient heat.”
