Ducklings: Jumbo Pekin Female Reviews

4.8 Rating 42 Reviews
3 of the 4 ducks are nice, calm ducks. The 4th is a strange duck. He sleeps on his back, or side. We thought he was dead several times. He will climb a flight of stairs because he knows where we keep the dog food. He is sneaky, and will steal food from the dog. This duck has provided us with more entertainment that any of the others. He will try to break into the house if given the chance.

We ordered 3 female Jumbo Pekin. I seemed weak when I first saw them. I put them under a heat lamp & dunked their bills in water. It was a few hours before they could get to the water by themselves. One duckling died the first night. One duckling got strong. And one duckling grew so slowly - I thought we might lose her. I gave them electrolytes & that seemed to help. Now they are 7 weeks & almost the same size = huge! I don't think we will buy Jumbo Pekin again.

I am a first time duck and chicken owner and the experience has been all around great! I can't believe how fast the ducks grew...they are ginormous!!! They love to go on their daily walk down to the pond where they do their zoomies under the water...very fun to watch!

I had two of these purchased from a local feed store and was extremely pleased both were female. I lived in a city and had trained the girls to go through dog doors and would sleep in a dog kennel kept in my basement. They made excellent pets and were highly trainable. A child's play pool was all that was needed to keep them happy.
