“I purchased 3 Lavender Orpington day old chicks and they arrived quickly and were packaged well. They all seemed healthy enough at first but one was smaller than the others and after a couple of days that chick went downhill quickly. I contacted My Pet Chicken and they were quick to respond and provide suggestions to help her which I followed but she just failed to thrive and didn't make it and they were quick to refund me for her. The other 2 chicks have been healthy and vigorous and growing like weeds. They are about 5 weeks now and their sweet personalities are really showing. They adore each other and when I move them out of their brooder one at a time to transfer them to a large box while I clean their brooder, they scream until they are reunited. That is the only time we hear anything other than happy little chirpy noises from them. When I reach into their brooder to move things or add food or grit they will run over and want to be pet and if I'm petting one of them the other will lightly peck my hand to get me to pet her too...it is adorable! Whenever I go into the room where their brooder is they come out if they were under their heater and come over to look at me and interact, they are very sociable and seem drawn to human interaction. These are the first chickens I've owned of my own although I was raised around them, and these are the first chickens my kids have been around and they are really perfect for families with children. My kids' noisiness and running around doesn't seem to scare or ruffle them at all and they just genuinely seem to enjoy being around people of any age. We live in the city but are moving to a large property in the country that was our vacation cabin but will be a full time home soon, so for now we needed a quiet easily contained chicken for our city house and these girls seem to fit the bill. They are sweet and gentle and very friendly and they are very quiet so far as long as they are together. I can't recommend this breed enough especially for an urban family chicken.”
“I ordered female Lavender & Buff Orpingtons and Australorps- the chicks arrived exactly when expected; they were safely packed into a comfy & well- ventilated cardboard carrier. They are wonderfully healthy, happy & so beautiful! The Lavenders are just stunning! Our girls are 8 weeks old now, and are well bonded to us & to each other- they are fantastic! Thank you SO much to everyone at My Pet Chicken!!!”
“My Violet was hatched and shipped May5th and just started laying eggs 3 weeks ago. She is absolutely stunning! Far prettier than the chicken on the profile. And she is huge!! But then again, she was a very large chick and developed so quickly, she did not look like a pullet. I thought I had a roo on my hands for awhile. She was very terrified of me for a long time, but was so jealous of the attention my tame girls were getting, that she eventually warmed up to me. Now she is very friendly and loves to be picked up and petted. I just adore her!”
“Just received 4 very healthy and beautiful female lavender orpington babies. They did a such a great job keeping them warm during their travel. Thank you so much!! I am one very happy chicken mama!! Hard part now is picking names. Lol”
“Received on date promised. Received 7 as ordered. I died. Company made good. I love my 6 lavendar orpingtons. It's a lot of fun watching them grow. At two weeks old tomorrow. I think I can tell which on is the cockerel already. Thanks My Per Chicken.”
“I'm giving her 2 stars based on her looks alone. She is very pretty. BUT she is skittish and even pecks at me like a maniac if I pick her up. She runs away screaming when I come near. She is making all my other chickens scared too. I've owned an orpington before and she was the friendliest chicken ever. What is wrong with this lavender orp? I've handled her from day 1. She is just so terrified of me. I can not go near her. She is like a wild animal. I paid such a high price for her and I am so disappointed. I will probably end up giving her to my friend who has a large chicken farm. I just have a small backyard chicken flock and she is ruining it for me by making all the others crazy. She screams the sky is falling every time she sees me and the others are freaking out because of her. Also, she was like this from the day she arrived. I will order a buff orpington next and hope that one will be more true to breed in personality.”
“Tolerate children, dogs, anything. one of our two lavenders is so sweet she follows us around the garden trying to have conversations. Highly recommend.”
“Last April, I had my first batch of chicks delivered. Two of which are Lav Orphs and I love them! My "Silvia" is one of the friendliest (out of 13 birds) and comes when I call her! I have other Orpington's (2 buff and two black-Austrolorphs) and I hands down love this breed! So much so that when I ordered my second batch (coming next month) I am getting more buffs and lavenders and adding a Blue and Jubilee Orpingtons. I can't wait! Also, I love MPC-all my chicks from last year arrived healthy and cheeping. And, they are all still going strong one year later!”
