Baby Chicks: Lavender Orpington Female Reviews

4.6 Rating 72 Reviews
Jacaranda is my only Lavender Orp. She was the smallest chick in my order of fifteen. From the get go she bonded with my husband and I more than the others. She lays large Pinkish hued eggs almost every day, and still craves affection as she did when she was a chick.

Our chicks arrived today, all in good health. Lavender Orpington is the most friendly and curious, loves to be touched and held, easily falls asleep in our hands. All others are equally wonderful.

I had a sweet Lavender Orpington who died a little over a year ago. She was one of my favorites so when it was time to place this year's order I had to include one day old LO. All 8 of my littles are fun and busy, but Violet is the sweetest. As soon as I cup my hands she jumps into them for pets and cuddles.

My baby’s just came in this morning they are all clean, healthy, playing, and happy! The packaging for them looked comfortable as well, so far I’m very happy!

Each evening, Lily and Lavender come running over to get fed. Being new to chickens, I have to laugh when chickens run. They are easily handled and the worker bees of the flock. We always have plenty of light brown eggs. All the chickens I got from MPC are chatty and friendly, and these two are some of my favorites.

I had reviewed what I thought was an aggressive lavender Orpington hen and my review wasn’t flattering, especially from a lineage standpoint. There was a sexing error (it happens, understandably) and she is a HE, as verified by the exceptionally helpful and professional people working at My Pet Chicken. I felt the need to revise my review to be fair to what are probably lovely, friendly hens. My new rooster isn’t half bad, he’s calmed down a bit and with some helpful tips from MPC I think he will fit in just fine. He hasn’t crowed yet and I’m a little surprised. Maybe he’ll be a quiet rooster. We’ll see. Keeping fingers crossed. He’s very pretty and large bodied. He loves food. I’ve had mean bantam Roos before and he’s not that aggressive. We will see how we get along. Thank you for correcting the error and being so helpful with the process. Your a great company to work with and I love all of you many birds I’ve purchased from you. Thank you.

Her face is the sweetest looking of all my hens. Mine is exactly as pictured. She is the first one out when I open the coop door and she is the first to escape when I don't want to let them out lol. She is very spirited. Great addition.

I've owned chickens for years and have had several different breeds. Unfortunately this bird is very skittish, aggressive and just generally an unenjoyable bird. She pecks at my hands when I put down the food and if it's not what she likes she runs away. She always looks terrified and she startles for no reason causing a huge ruckus in the coop area. She frightens the other birds and it seems like she has made them scared of everything including me. I've had other birds like this that I can usually get to warm up to me with treats and patience, but this little girl won't have it. You really need to be able to handle your birds to feel their bodies and treat them if they have any illnesses and when birds are so skittish like this, it makes it very difficult. She's pretty, but difficult and that may be a turn off for some.
