We got two of these girls 5 months ago. They are laying a couple eggs a week and will sing the loudest egg song of all our chickens. They are also so curious and don’t mind being held.

I ordered 4 chicks, 2 of them were Partridge Cochins. These 2 were sickly and weak from day 1. One died within a few days, despite all the advice I took to try and nurse them back to health and the second one died shortly after. I am extremely disappointed as the only reason I placed this order was because my beloved Partridge Cochin (who was my oldest chicken that I actually got from MPC was tragically killed by a fox). So I spent a fortune on shipping these chicks to me, just to not even get the cochins that I really wanted in the first place. MPC did not refund me or replace them. However, after many emails and phone calls and sending a picture of the dead chick, they agreed to send me 1 cochin as a gift on my next order of chicks. So basically I had to reorder a bunch of chicks and they gave me a $5 cochin for free but I still had to pay for shipping and all the other chicks. This isn't fair as the chicks were on their way to death when they arrived. I have had chickens for many years and also hatch them. I know how to care for them and these girls were sick upon arrival. They should have sent me 2 free cochins, paid for shipping and then have me pay for the other 2 that is needed to fill the order. So I have a double broken heart (one from my old girl's passing and another from these two chicks) and a big dent in my wallet. I really hope this ONE free cochin they send me on my next order makes it. If she doesn't, I will be looking for another hatchery.

I’ve had this girl for almost 2 years now. She lays a medium brown, somewhat small egg, and has always been one of my best layers. She is my least friendly chicken but I still love her. She dislikes me immensely. Very opposite of how I was told a Cochin personality would be. She is at the bottom of the pecking order, even below my beloved Speckled Sussex. That being said, she is the most incredible mama! I was afraid she would raise her babies to dislike me, but she did not. She let them know that they were to go to me for treats. All the babies hatched under her turned out to be some of the sweetest girls I have. She went broody at one year old, and was never in the least bit mean to me when I stuck my hand under her. She is extremely gentle, just very shy. That behavior was noted in her from the day she arrived.

I was so excited to get the partridge cochins and after 3 days they started getting sticky butt and eventually after the 3rd day they passed that was the only reason for my order. I watched over them so carefully and they still died. Couldn't get rid of the nasty pasty butt. 1 frizzle died and also one of the Buckeyes they were all patsy butts

We chose to add a male partridge Cochin into our batch of girls, because owning a rooster had been so fun before, until he started to become aggressive..so I did some research and found this is supposed to be a very sweet breed! When we opened our package I was very happy to see his cute feathery feet, and that he’d arrived safely and healthy. Then realized there was two! Luckily we have the room to keep both! Ones more of a charcoal color with blueish fuzz along his sides/wings and an orange brown ring around his neck and a cream chest and wingtips. The others a lighter chestnut color with dark brown around his beak/eyes and back, and a cream chest and wingtips. Can’t wait to see them feather out, and I hope there’ll turn out to be friendly roosters!
