Baby Chicks: Swedish Flower Hen Female Reviews

4.7 Rating 41 Reviews
I order 1 male Swedish flower hen. He arrived alive. He's 2 months now and nothing short of underwhelming. I've had a rooster in the past and he was beautiful. This male has zero flowering on the feathers. He's a solid black and white. I'm starting to think that mypetchicken is producing weak diluted chicks due to 4 of my chicks dying in this order and 2 suffering from leg issues. In my previous order I had 5 chicks die as well. I hope this boy will outgrow this phase and have the beautiful markings the Swedish flower hen is known for soon.

Love, love, love my two girls. Flower (yes, I know) is the traditional coloring. Smudgy is all white with 4 or 5 grey feathers hence the name. Those two as chicks would always want to be held and got a bit envious when I was holding the other babies. Then I held a few at a time to always include them.

We are so happy to hear Flower and Smudgy have made their way into your heart, and we're even happier knowing they have found such a wonderful home!

Our Harriet (hen) turned out to be a rooster. We can have roosters but just choose not too. Henry will be finding a new home, sadly.

Ordered a Swedish flower hen and unfortunately she turned out to be a rooster. Very disappointing because he was such a cute and friendly chick. I suspected he was a boy but hoped I was wrong bc he was super friendly like a hen. Always came over and jumped on my lap to be petted. Loved to be held and never pecked me. Wasn’t aggressive at all but at 4 months I heard the crow and knew my little Fannie was a Freddy. Fortunately, I was able to find him a nice home where he’ll have nearly 2 acres to roam. I’d give it 5 stars if it was a hen bc he was super sweet and I can only imagine how sweet the hens must be. Can’t complain bc it’s the first time in 4 orders from MPC that I ended up with a rooster.

Our girls Freya and Torchic are so cool. SUPER friendly (not a shy bone in either of their bodies), always the first to run over and hop right onto your arm, lap, or shoulder, and absolutely STUNNING! So much personality packed into these little ladies. We'll be adding several more next year for sure!

My little chick did not survive. I guess it happens but I was offered the chance to order another one so I hope to do so in the future because I’d really like a swedish

I have 3 of these gorgeous chickens and they are just amazing. My rooster is a perfect gentleman and protects his flock. My hens are dependable layers of eggs that are almost rose gold colored. Each one of these birds are unique and you never know what you are going to get regarding color but the colors I got are stunning. They are cold hardy and tolerate temperature changes well.

Our Swedish Flower Hen, Trillium, was unable to stand properly when she first came in, a little research showed that she had curled toes. Some scotch tape and cardboard did the trick though, and she was actually running about with the others in a little while! It was great. She grew nicely and when we let her and her siblings out for their evening ‘Out Time’ she excelled in grasshopper catching. She is now about one year old and lays fairly well, she also went broody her second summer (unfortunately for her there was no rooster in the house at the time!) Trillium runs to us whenever we hold out our arms and happily wiggles her head up and over our shoulders. She is in constant competition with Sunshine, a mixed breed hen of the same age. Sunshine has to be sneaky instead of feisty- she would stand no chance in a fight with Trillium! All in all, Trillium is a great addition to our flock.
