“I ordered an assortment of 6 different day-old chicks 6 weeks ago; I almost didn‚Äôt want the leghorn and contemplated switching her out because they‚Äôre notorious for being standoffish and nervous- we are first timers with kids and wanted friendly breeds! Not only did our babies arrive happy and healthy, our leghorn, Nancy, is our BEST girl! She is the alpha but is so sweet, loves to be picked up and cuddled, knows her name already and is great with my two toddlers handling her. Overall very happy!!”
“This is an update to my review below- the Leghorns are all grown up and laying up a storm. I've got a big variety of egg colors in my flock, and find that having a couple white eggs in the carton really sets off the greens, blues and browns! Our two are confident and nice to be around - not flightly at all. And still such beautiful faces!”
“We bought one in our April batch. She was the first to lay, and consistently lays almost everyday. She is friendly, and comes running when we go outside. Great addition to our flock.”
“Our 2 Leghorns are still "littles" right now, but I have to say I didn't expect their little faces to be gorgeous. That's a weird thing to say about chicks, yes indeed, but they are soooo pretty. SO pretty. Can't wait for their first eggs!”
“Ordered 1 hen the first time around and she was great. Lays huge white eggs, sometimes double yolks, at least 5 days a week. Ordered another 4 hens the 2nd time and they've grown just as fast as the first and am expecting the same for laying.”
“Our White Leghorn is one of 12 hens we got from My Pet Chicken. Being first time chicken owners, we wanted to try a bunch of different breeds to figure out what we liked best. She wasn't the most friendly as a baby, I'd put her in the middle of the pack as far as friendliness as a chick. At 4 months & 2 weeks old Snow White (our Leghorn) started laying!! She used the nest box without us putting fake eggs in (because we weren't expecting anyone to lay so early). She flies over the electric fence more than we would like but she comes running right up to you asking for treats (never runs away). Since she started laying she's become the most friendly & even through she's one of the smaller hens, she's the current alpha of the flock. We love her & will definitely keep a Leghorn in our flock going forward.”
“We bought 13 different chicks and this one is my family‚Äôs favorite. She is more of apet than anything. She lays a big white egg every day and is super friendly. My husband will even put her on the handlebars of his bicycle and ride around our driveway with her on it. All of my kids can easily pick her up and she will just walk up to anyone. The only problem is she‚Äôs so friendly she will try to hop in your car if you leave a window down or door open. When I do the dishes she will sit on the windowsill outside and watch me.”
