“I bought several MPC silkies, all sexed correctly as females. They are all super friendly (we love dressing them up and giving them baths when white ones need it!). They climb right into our laps. They started laying eggs at 20 weeks on the day, and are great layers of 4-5 eggs per week each! They have excellent feathering and poofs, the quality I had hoped for. Like all silkies, they tend to go broody, especially a couple in particular. However they stay gentle and friendly when I move them out of their nest and break easily. Love them dearly!”
“I ordered one white and one black silkie, the black silkie died within 9 days and had an extremely vaulted skull... Now the only silkie left is the white one who thankfully doesn't have the vaulted skull but has a crossed beak. This has been really disheartening I could understand issues with shipping chicks but the genetic issues I wasn't prepared for. The other chicks are in good health so it's not nutrition or vitamin deficiency leading to these issues when it's just been problems with the silkies.”
“The biggest fluffiest chick, we named her Big Betsy, later somehow nicknamed Boots. Boots is so odd. The noises that come out of her are ungodly. She's also about as smart as a boot. But she survived the great hawk attack of 2022 with a quarter sized gash in her side. She didn't care one bit, literally no reaction, when we took her to the vet, got her stitches and antibiotics, and kept her as a house hen for a week as she recovered. What a girl. Truly remarkable.”
“I ordered 8 chicks and one of them was my little white silkie. She was supper friendly and sweet. So cute running to me whenever I would come to the run. She was my favorite baby. At around 3 months we had a hawk attack and unfortunately he killed her as she was not very quick as my other bantams. Seems silkies are very vulnerable to predators and as a first time chick mom I learned the hard way. I m heartbroken and once I have a better setup for my chickens I will consider getting a few silkies again.”
“Well.. what can I say! I took a 50/50 chance at getting straight run and ended up with another Rooster! He‚Äôs Just adorable though! And already sneaking in mating with some hens !shhh we won‚Äôt tell the Salmon Faverolles or the barred Rock! But I can‚Äôt wait to see what mix I will get out of my Silkies Roosters! Turn the page! Lol”
