“Great first impressions.
Basically a Gore Tex style jacket (Deer Tex) with a quiet fabric outer. A good sized hood with a peak, high collar, comfortable neoprene wristlets. It is well cut for bad weather and would be great for stalking, high seats or standing on a smart peg. It would need to be paired with base layers for cold weather and I'm yet to try it in the rain.
I'm impressed with how quiet the fabric is when moving.
A couple of niggles. The popper buttons are metal not silicone and so if not done up they rattle. An annoying detail given other Deerhunter jackets use silent ones and especially when the price is considered. Also there are no internal pockets.”
“Teaming this up with a Newforest quilted gillet. Jacket has a great feel to it, waterproof, flexible and quiet. Love the neoprene wrist wrist bands which will keep my arms dry”
“Very happy with this jacket, fits great with room for a few layers too. Wore it for first time on a very wet and windy shoot at weekend. Kept me dry and warm.
Great service from New Forest.”
“The Deerhunter kept me completely dry while I was walking the dog in all the wind and rain yesterday.
Which was the reason for my purchase, and great delivery from New forest clothing.”
“Bought this p
Jacket about 18 months ago and used it over the
2019-2020 pheasantt season. Used it yesterday during heavy showers and it completely failed. Water came in through the back, sleves and collar. Not impressed at all. Should have lasted longer than this.”
“This jacket is good. IT IS NOT 100% waterproof. Maybe 60-70%.
However, it's water proof enough. The skirt and hand warmer pockets are great features. The hood is plenty big enough too.
I work outside all day in all conditions. I trust this jacket for rainy days and warm ones. The vents in the armpit save you taking it off if you're too hot.
Good field jacket. Only waterproof to 5000mm. Why not gore tex or a 2L/3L system I don't know. Maybe make the jacket unaffordable.”
