“I purchased this hat for winter gardening, and for my taste it is certainly fit for purpose; it's an inexpensive piece that could affordably be replaced should it become destroyed by over-zealous earth-moving etc. The felt is thick so it is stiff and hard wearing; I would question that it is entirely crushable and rather feel that too much abuse will leave unsightly folds in the tough fabric. It is definitely waterproof; probably storm proof. In my experience Hoggs of Fife make good stuff; however, they are over generous with their sizing so be careful when ordering. I take a 60cm hat but the XL was 2cm larger than this so I had to exchange for a medium which is meant to be a 58cm but fits me perfectly. No issues with customer service which was excellent. Delivery fast and efficient; they are always helpful and I would certainly recommend New Forest Clothing.”
