“The quality is good. It looks very nice, and the wide brim not only helps keep rain off the face, but also keeps the sun out of the eyes too. It works for me.
The head size and fit I found a bit awkward, with being a size medium, and spot on at 58 centimeters. A large size 59/60 would may have been best for me.... but not sure. The 58 works with short or no hair. Long and thick hair would be best with a large size I think, but that is just my thinking.
I have customised my hat with an elasticated brown boot lace, using the vent eyelets. A good chin strap stops high winds taking your hat away forever. Being elasticated but not tight is best.”
“I have never been too fond of wearing hats, even less fond of wearing hoods. If I had to wear a hat I would normally wear, either a beanie or a baseball cap. Unfortunately both have the same inherent problem, they allow water to run down your neck. I had never before considered a fedora style hat. My thought was, I’ll try it as it’s not very expensive and if I don’t like it, I haven’t lost much. When the hat arrived I was very impressed by the quality, far better than I expected for the price. When I put it on it fitted like a glove, again far better than I expected. The big test was what it looked like, I looked in the mirror and again I was pleasantly surprised, I loved it, it looked great.
Since then I have worn it a lot, and as we have had plenty of rain, I have had more than ample time to decide this was a great purchase. It doesn’t impair vision like a hood, it doesn’t let water run down your neck like the other hats I’ve mentioned, it does a great job and it looks good.
I did loose it in the high winds the other day but in true Indiana Jones style, I crossed a raging white water river and managed to rescue my hat before it was blown into a bottomless ravine. In reality, I stepped over the ditch and pulled it out the hedgerow.
