“I wanted to wait until I had properly tried this jacket before I left a review and fortunately the day after it arrived we had a big rainstorm! Since then we've had a few more and the jacket has held up through them all.
Pros: it's completely waterproof as well as being warm, I've stayed totally dry throughout all the rain we've been having here in Scotland. The hood is a really good size, I have quite long hair and most hoods don't leave enough room for a ponytail or bun and the hood usually ends up too far back on my head but this one completely covers my head and the fabric lining grips onto my fluffy headband quite well which stops it sliding back! The handwarmer pockets are my new favourite thing and I want them on all my jackets now! There are two inside pockets but the blue one that is sewn to the bottom of the jacket is a bit too low for me so I'm glad I found the higher up one that perfectly blends into the lining. I also really like the length, I work outdoors so having a waterproof that covers my bum is pretty much a necessity in winter and the double zip makes it easy enough to sit down, go to the toilet etc.
Cons: because it's wax everything sticks to it - especially when it's windy, which it was the first time I wore it, so don't expect it to stay clean for long! The wax also makes it almost slimy to the touch when it's wet and on one particularly wet day that made it unpleasant to try and get my hands in the handwarmer pockets but everything was drenched by that point and I haven't had that issue since.
A note on the sizing: There was a lot of conflicting opinions in the reviews as to whether the sizing is true or a bit small so here's my experience. I'm quite petite but like to size up in Jackets so I can layer up, with this in mind I ordered a size 10. It fitted fine and I could get a jumper underneath but it was a little close around my legs, not uncomfortably so but since I want this jacket to last a long time I thought it best to return it for a size 12 which I'm more than happy with. Because there isn't a shoulder seam, it doesn't look oversized on me. The returns process couldn't have been simpler, they provide a returns label in the parcel so I simply had to fill out what I wanted it swapped for and drop it off at the post office. A week later I had my new jacket.
All in all I'm very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend it.”
