“This is the third I have bought within two months, not out of greed but sheer quality and value. My first was an XL padded one (reviewed separately), so impressed by the quality/value I recommended to a friend. He wanted one immediately but is somewhat more rotund than I at 52" chest. I explained the sizes and customer reviews that the garment appears to be cut on the large side. "Get me the biggest" he said (and kept saying, as he has so much difficulty in getting garments for his size. I advised against, based on reviews, but he insisted on the "biggest" at 56" chest. Needless to say, it was far too big! (even for him)! I suggested his actual size at 52" but he was cautious and went for 54" and even then it was generous! The original was returned for a refund (when we should have gone really for an exchange, but time was precious for his trip). The new one arrived so very promptly (as always) and the refund was given very quickly, without question. As for me, I erred on the side of caution and ordered an XL (as another branded coat I have branded L is now getting a bit tight. The XL padded gives that extra room if you are a 44" chest, so ample room for jumper/scarf etc. I was however intrigued by what the 44" (Large) might have been, so I ordered this one , which is unpadded, but still has same qualities, nice lining, practical foldaway hood, 4 external and 2 internal pockets and the storm cuffs and at Large size for 44" inch chest is absolutely fine but with thin jumper/shirt scenario. So, remember that these garments are cut on the generous side of size and really, they are not jackets but coats (you may find them a bit long if you are not so high in stature). Hope this all helps”
“Quality jacket. Oversized as mentioned in the description so get a size down, or two if you don't want to wear much underneath. Keeps the wind away very well and is obviously waterproof. The clip on hood is a bit fragile, easily comes undone if you catch it with your hand but that's easily remedied and anyway it's a decent hood and I'm grateful to have one.”
