“This is a size 6XL of my “old” 5XL version from the same source, which I’ve only replaced ‘cos the smaller one must have shrunk in the rain at some point… That will be passed on to my lad, so will carry on covering for many more years.
These are excellent value wet-weather jackets, with hand-warmer plus big patch pockets on the outside, plus an inside “Poacher’s” pocket for the (detachable) hood or a hat, plus another wallet/phone pocket.
The 5XL Jacket had Two inside pockets - for Phone AND wallet, but this larger size only has the one, so I have deducted one star for their removal of a pocket - hah..! (That’ll teach ‘em to be stingy..!).
From its comfy, corduroy collar, down to the warm “cotton” lining, these jackets can be folded up into a Sainsbury’s carrier bag and live in the car for the summer, then come into their own when the weather cools - and you don’t even need a sweater underneath until at least January. They’re tough as old boots on the outside too, so I really can’t see how they sell these for such a low price - especially if you carry out a direct comparison with their main competitor - which will cost you at least £200 and doesn’t come in this size..!
Excellent value, waterproof - but needs that one more inside pocket to achieve perfection.”
“Excellent quality and style but as bought for xmas gifts don’t yet know about the fit, although my son has bought from NF before and the fit was perfect. Everything I’ve bought from NF has delighted!”
“Good quality and nice and warm. Haven’t tested waterproof yet. Sleeves quite short and zip a bit flimsy but good value for money. Let’s hope the zip lasts. Best thing it’s BRITISH made!”
“This is a good looking jacket and great value for the reduced price. Sleeves, shoulders and overall length are perfect. However, it loses its one star (I'd have given 4.5 if i could) for its sizing. As a Small, the typical 35-37 inch chest size is ideal for me. This garment, however, rather like the Ridgeline brand, has an XS at 38 inches, which is just too big - disappointing for a British made garment. Larger sizes can just go down an extra size to find the perfect fit, but, if you're a S, you've no where to go after XS. As a S like me you'll need to layer if you're going to experience the true warmth of this coat. I've used it the last rwo mornings on my quite lengthy walks, and otherwise it's perfect, but it's taken a couple of miles of brisk walking to feel the benefit of the considerable padding. You might need a scarf, too, since the cold can tend to get in at the neck when the coat's just a little too big.”
