“Bought this coat for walking the dog, knowing that the storms and heavy rain are forecast for northeast Scotland this winter. So far it has gotten me through the worst Storm Babet and kept me dry.
A good fitting coat with enough room to get a fleece underneath if required. The length is good coming over the top of my wellington boots.
First impressions are excellent, and I expect it to provide good service through a very wet winter.”
“Excellent quality wax coat. This thing will last for years! I got mine for walking the dog. Wanted a bit of extra length over my legs. Walked the dog during 2023 Storm Babet with ease. Once tied, the hood stays up surprisingly well in strong wind. The rain beads off the waxed coat. Size was perfect! I normally get a Large for tops. If worn without a jumper or gilet, it may seem a relaxed fit. With a jumper, I am as snug as a bug .”
“I wore it for the first time in the heavy rains at the weekend and it kept me dry. I was impressed by the way the rain beaded on the surface and then ran off. I did find the press stud fastenings at the neck slightly fiddly to snap closed as it’s not possible to see to align them properly. I’m sure I’ll improve with practice. I’m certain I’ll get a lot of use out of the coat now that we’re heading into more wintry weather. I’m glad that I chose the XL size as the arms are a perfect length for me and there’s plenty of room to wear a fleece or pullover underneath the coat without any feeling of being restricted. Great value for money.”
“Ordered on a Wednesday afternoon, it arrived following Sunday. It's very light and comfortable but not at all warm on its own. Will need plenty of clothing underneath.
Needs more internal pockets. The hood is just plain awful, makes me look like a Gregorian monk. Needs to be square across the top, not pointed. Biggest problem is the sizing, I take a medium in everything but reading the previous reviews about being too big on most people I ordered an XS. Even that is too big for me, perhaps an xxs would be a good idea?
Was disappointed to see that the shoulder pieces are not detachable as they are on my US made "Outback" waxed coat. I actually look like Joan Collins in "Dynasty" they stick out so far. I cut them off completely, problem solved, luckily, the ones off my Outback coat fit straight on the collar studs provided for the hood should I need them.
All in all its a good coat, I like it and it is waterproof. Definitely need plenty of warm clothing on underneath though. The price is very reasonable. Without doubt, the US made Outback coats are superior, much thicker but far more expensive. If you can work on getting the sizing correct and get a better hood design, then this coat is very good and well worth the money.”
