Have used this setup (gazebo and 2 pods) for a couple of years, from down south WA to Exmouth up north. We sleep 2 adults, 2 kids and a teenager. We use Oztrail flys every time for weather proofing. Wouldn't camp without them. Never had a leak. Never been blown out by wind. We can configure into a line - or an L-shape depending on the site. Fabric very thin. No sunblock, so I sleep with an eye mask. Zip just broken on one pod this trip so that's now in the bin. Would be very interested in a sturdy canvas pod for long term use if you can please make that happen Oztrail! And why the heck do you guys love make the product bags so small?? Stuffing the tent back into a too small, crap quality bag does my head in. Surely you can design something better. Otherwise I would def recommend.

After reading previous reviews about water leakage of the Portico’s, I also purchased extra Oztrail solid walls to be used as tent fly sheets. Although the walls don’t fully cover the tent itself they proved useful in minimising leakage. We had our gazebo setup in fair weather for 4 consecutive days but when the weather changed to 2 nights of heavy rain only minimal leakage seamed to happen around the window areas. The solid walls fit snug above the tent and joined to the gazebo frame between the canopy and the tent. The Portico’s provide ample room, are user friendly and provide adequate airflow when window vents are open. Temperature depending, I’d recommend sleeping with only the insect screen zipped up to prevent excess condensation buildup. In summary the Portico is a great purchase for me and I’d recommend this product for use by novice campers as well as extra temporary visitor accommodation at home due to its user friendly and speed of use design.

From reading the earlier reviews I purchased the portico 3 and sewed on the zips from an old oztrail mesh side wall. Works well considering I needed youtube to learn how to use the sewing machine. Extra rain protection comes from throwing a large tarp over the gazebo and extra room. Adding the zips so it integrates with the current wall kits seems to be an obvious oversight that oztrail appears to be working on along with the ponding issue. The gazebo is 12 years old and has been used for everything and this Portico 3 is the latest addition to it's versatility.

Am sitting under my 3m gazebo as I write this. I purchased 2 porticos and a solid side wall to go with the gazebo. It gives me more than enough space for my family of four and being able to go from the gathering/cooking area straight into the tent to sleep is great. We had some light rain and 45km winds today and so far it has held up well. I can also configure the tent as a long with 2 on each side or an L depending on the camp site. The obvious glaring omission as other reviewers have mentioned is the lack of zips to join them to the side wall sections and be able to bug and wing proof the gazebo. Include these and you have a serious winner. Nearly every other camper at my site has a 3m gazebo for cooking/gathering plus a seperate tent for sleeping and my tent set up has attracted a lot of attention. The consensus is that they’re a great idea but they’ll wait til the portico comes with side zips.

be it over night or 3 weeks long if you have a Gazebo and a "POD" (or 2 like me ) some mesh wall kits you are good to go (hint) we put a cheap blue tarp under the gazebo canopy then extend it down and over the pod using shorter poles to peg out) just in case ) it gives protection from bird poop twigs and leaves from trees heavy rain etc. as well as extra shade , we had a 6 hour HEAVY STORM and it held up better than a couple of the camper trailers near us ...........love the new pod even better but may i suggest putting a zipper on the sides (of the pod) as well as velcro to zip up with the wall kits so it keeps the bugs out and can be totally enclosed ??????? i'd buy that :) :) :) :)

We used our portico over the weekend for the first time and was very impressed with the space and room for my 2 teens. Very Quick and easy to set up and looks super tidy. NEGATIVE- Not very water proof. Water was dripping through seams/stitching at top after only 30 mins of rain. Lucky we only had about 2 hrs of rain. Wounding if should waterproof spray seems.

Hi Rhiannon, Thanks for reaching out with your review and great to hear you're impressed with the tent. In regards to the waterproofing for the tent, feel free to check for the 190T seam seal as this is one of the features of the tent. On new tents they will require to be 'Seasoned' which means preparing it for the wet weather. For more information feel free to visit http://www.gocampingaustralia.com/how-to-season-a-tent.html If you continue to have issues with water dripping through the stitches, feel free to get in contact and we can look into it further. Happy Camping!

Great tent Would be AWESOME with a few extra details.. 1. Valcro spots above the door to attach to the roof of the gazebo like the side walls do 2. Valcro at the bottom of the windows to hold down so it doesn't flap, would keep the cold wind out.. 3. A power cord slot 4. Zips on each side where it attaches to the frame so your walls can attach all the way around the gazebo. no point getting 3 mesh walls but still having a gap down each side of the portico for bugs to get in.
