Bought this jacket to hopefully be a hardy workhorse when taking the dog out for walks without worrying what the weather will do. Whilst i can’t yet speak for the longevity I will say I am very impressed with the build quality and look forward to putting this jacket through its paces over the next few years.

Really well made and is comfortable to wear, looks very smart. luckily I took note of other reviews and ordered a size up as had I ordered my normal size it would of been too small.

So it looks like I’ll be the first one to give this jacket a proper, in-depth review. Let’s get into it! Sizing and Fit: yes, the size guide is incorrect. Compared to my measurements, the guide provides an overestimate of nearly 1” in all dimensions except for the cuff. However, it’s also incorrect with respect to relative sizing. The dimensions that are displayed for a small would actually be considered a medium in most other brands. I have a denim trucker jacket from J. Crew in size small that I measured this against, and it’s virtually a clone in all dimensions. So in the end, I’d say buy true to size. Construction: so this jacket is made in China; no surprise when looking at the price. You would never guess it though looking at the level of craftsmanship. After surveying the whole jacket from top to bottom, I saw very few breaks in the stitching where there was an overlap, which is not bad considering. Aside from that, stitching was solid and cleanly aligned amongst the seams with virtually no straying. The fact that they even align the sleeve seams with the cross seam on the upper back says enough about attention to detail. Materials: the site here says the canvas is 15oz, when the branding label on the inside of the jacket says it’s 12oz. So I’m guessing that 15oz is the post-wax weight (?), which I believe is around the weight of the proprietary Tin Cloth fabric from Filson. The material label, for some reason, states that the canvas is 35% polyester (?) Customer service states this was a possible labeling error at the factory; they didn’t get back to me to confirm that. The lining is a polyester twill, but it does have a bit of a matte, brushed texture for a soft touch. The quality of the suede trim is excellent. It’s not hearty in the sense of having a textured nap to it, but it’s very refined and feels buttery-smooth, almost like velvet. Are there nitpicks? Maybe a few, but I’m having trouble calling them nitpicks. First, they don’t show this in the photos or mention it in the description, but they sew in a small brass carabiner inside the right chest flap. I guess it’s a unique feature, but I don’t know how much use I will make of it. Second, size small only has five buttons, and I’m guessing it’s the same for x-small. I probably would have liked to have seen six for a more traditional look like in the photos, but it’s certainly not a deal-breaker. Bottom-Line: this jacket is outstanding. Everything with it is on point; the cut, the style, the materials, the construction. For my money, I’d say it’s probably one of the greatest waxed canvas jackets ever made. It would be nice to see more variants released in the future, like one with a flannel/blanket lining for example.

Hey, Thank you for taking the time to leave us with your review. I am so sorry we had not provided an answer for you sooner. I can confirm that the jacket is in fact 15oz and when waxed will increase to a potential 17oz. The labelling of the jacket at 12oz was an error within the factory which we have now rectified. We are extremely sorry for any confusion or doubt this may have originally caused you. We really appreciate your feedback on the sizing. Our product team will take these on board and look at ways to improve the overall fit. With regards to the the nato clip on the inner, this is a hidden detail which was originally featured on our outpost jacket. Late last year we felt it was fitting to carry this through to all of outerwear within the workwear collection. I can confirm that we have since updated our site and would like to thank you for pointing this out to us. I would also like to take this time to thank you for leaving us such an in depth review on our Wayfare Waxed Canvas Jacket. This has been extremely informative to us, and will help us make those small improvements to ensure this is, and remains the greatest waxed jacket of all time! Kind Regards, P&CO

Based on Feedback I went for a size up (XXL rather than XL). I’m 6’4” and a slim/athletic build and the jacket fits great. Long arms and fitted body. It wouldn’t fit anyone of a larger build though. I love the fit, quality and look of the jacket.
