The tool worked as described. This was my 1st time removing links from my new chain. Well worth the investment vs. taking my bike (or chain) to the LBS.

Some decades ago I bought one of the little CT-5 tools, and it served my utility-cyclist needs well before it apparently grew legs and ran away. Hoping that it is just hiding out and will turn up again one day, I bought the less-expensive of the 2 shop tools to re-fit the chain on my elderly Tunturi exercise bike. I was surprised by the floating "anvil" (I don't know what its real name is) and it took all the fingers on my left hand to hold everything in place while my right hand turned the crank (which was easier than I feared it would be, my being 83yo). After popping the link pin out, I noticed that the tool's own pin was very slightly bent. Evidently I hadn't been able to hold it exactly correctly, and it was a little too soft in itself to resist bending. When removing the next link pin, I tried to compensate and unbend the tool pin, which luckily succeeded. Maybe the tool pins could be supplied in a more rigid metal? I then installed a half-link, using the tool to push the link pins in and laid the chain tool aside to rest til next time. Those were my only current tasks for the chain tool. Now I've to figure out how to compensate for the dropouts really being dropins, the very heavy flywheel needing considerable encouragement - of some kind - to keep from sliding backwards and down, creating jerky slop in the chain that can't be reduced by manipulating links. Tunturi should have fitted a spring-loaded idler wheel for that adjustment, or at least a screw-together resizable buffer, but they didn't.

Worked excellent for replacing the S10 chain on my Schwinn ten-speed bike. But what else would you expect from Park Tool. Thanks, Guys!

Best tool for removing chain pins. Larger torque with less force.
