Do you need it? No. Your cable snips do the job well, and you CAN work those clunky b——rds into the gap between your front derailleur and the bottom bracket IF you have the skillz. BUT. This little minx just sleazes right into any little nook and cranny with such ease. Go ahead and cut those cables shorter, knowing you’ll save x/1000ths of a gram on EACH CABLE!!! And the crimps... My god, the crimps look so unabashedly PRO. You’ll start looking for things to squeeze like a repressed pimple-popper. Get it. Do it. Cough up the $$. You CAN buy happiness.

Takes the guess work out of using the cable cutter or other pliers. Nice, clean crimp. Well made and comfortable to use. Made in Taiwan.

Finally, a tool for crimping end caps on cable ends that actually works (unlike the poorly designed ones that come as an afterthought on cable cutters that seldom work properly). No more end caps falling off or coming loose to stab you when you're cleaning your bike or unravel and ruin the cable end. Yes, it costs $30. You spend that on after-ride coffees in one week. You'll be proud to own this tool knowing it does the job right and once and for all. You buy this tool once in your life and you're done - like all Park tools. You know you want it!

Niche tool? Yup. Necessary? Let me put it this way - I wonder how I made through life this long without this crimper! The only downside of this tool is that once you get it, you will re-crimp every cable on your bike(s). And then replace all the cables that you replaced last month as an excuse to crimp more cables. I can't help but wonder if Calvin and Truman and the crew at Park Tool are getting kickbacks from the manufacturers of cable ends ;-)

The crimping pliers press a neat little line into one side of the end cap. It looks nicer than smashing them on with a pair of regular pliers. The head of the crimping pliers can get into tight spots too. Highly recommend.
