Worked awesome. One shot and pulled the dropper cable all the way through.

So recently I was faced with a task I have never even attempted. My Wife and I were fortunate enough to find nice bikes (Giant Stance 2021) in our size earlier this year during the period when NO ONE had bikes to sell. After about five months of owning them, we finally decided to upgrade to dropper posts. I have some experience running wire through conduit but I have never internally routed cables inside a bicycle frame. With all the twists, turns, and other cables already in the frame I knew I would need help. Enter the Park Tool IR-1.2 kit. I was, like many, hesitant at first glance because I was only seeing the dollar signs. After thinking about how much I would need to fork out at an LBS to have the work done, compounded with the fact that regular maintenance will eventually require all cables to be replaced, I made the purchase. Lady's and Germs, I couldn't be more satisfied. It comes with 4 different magnetic wires to use depending on your specific cable (with or without ferrules installed) or hose you a trying to run. The neodymium magnet included is very strong for its size and allowed me to easily guide through the frame. TLDR: I made pictures for you!

Well done, Park Tool. I used this routing kit on a ti frame with complex internal routing. It took me less than one glass of beer to route both cable housings. Well worth the $65 as my shop quoted me a minimum of $50 for the job, and I will certainly use this many times. Keep making great tools!

I love the utility of this tool. Unfortunately, the magnet tips on routing cables were too big to fit through the holes on my Specialized Epic carbon frame. Bummer! The Jagwire cable housing fits through the hole just fine. I love the idea of this tool, but wasn't working for me in my situation, thus the 3 stars. In the end I made it work by cutting one of the magnets from the end of the cable and using thin tape to attach it to the cable housing pull screw end of the cable. This was thin enough to route through the entry hole. I still recommend the product, but be aware you may have problems if you have very small entry holes in your carbon frame.

I can’t imagine anyone who works on modern bikes not having these tools. Greatly simplifies the complex routing of internal cables and hydraulic brake lines.
