“This is an amazing boost in which the simplicity of design disguises an incredible degree of utility. The silicon side serves almost to clean up the signal in order to make it cut when the 'Lows' controls sits around 9 o'clock but it can push your amp into saturation. The germanium side has the kind of hairy goodness you want from that form of diode. Putting both sides on together, for me, results in a kind of super saturate, spitty fuzz sound and it is bloody righteous. My Heavy Water sits down the chain from a ThorpyFX ER-2 followed by a Dumkudo, Thorpy Tacit Blue, Lovepedal Purple Plexi and Thorpy Peacekeeper and I can stack a number of them and still get something not only useable but significantly enhanced by putting one of the Heavy Water's boosts on after them.”
