“The Wampler EQuator stands alone as an affordable parametric EQ. And it punches above its weight in terms of capabilities, purity and silence.
The non-parametric bands are thoughtful, and just right, at 135hz and 7khz. The variable bands have an ideal range and a nice tradeoff between variability and db boost and cut. In other words, one band has less range but more oomph.
The Wampler engineers shared with me a tantalizing concept: they increase the Q with more boost or cut. I'm assuming to prevent each band from "contaminating" the other. Brilliant.
The volume control has a healthy boost if needed.
